Right To Education by VSSM For Chandra - Saraniya Community Child 

The harsh realities and vagaries of life makes children of Vadia way more mature than their age. In the year we began working in Vadia life was absolutely in shatters for these community. The community here had zero access to any of the infrastructural facilities. The village school remained close most of the times. The teachers considered their transfer in Vadia as punishment posting hence hardly reported on duty. The parents were least bothered for the education of their kids. VSSM felt that it was important to bring children out of the environment they were growing up in therefore in 2007-08 we enrolled 40 children in various residential institutes and ashram shalas across Gujarat. But most of the kids came back within few months of enrolment. The children faced discrimination  at these institutes. There were some organisations who refused to enrol these children cause they feared that Vadia Kids will spoil the hostel environment. 

A boy named Chandra somehow managed to stay put and continued with his elementary schooling in Yoganjali Ashram at Siddhpur while completed his  higher secondary school at Swaminarayan Gurukul in Siddhpur.  Later he went on to acquire admission in B.B.A course. After the completion of graduation he plans to pursue his PG from some reputed college. He looks forward to completing MBA and has already began preparations for the same.  

Chandra has been instrumental in bringing numerous children from his village to school. The movement that began with him  is expected to fetch out  numerous children from Vadia. He has ignited the hunger amongst the Vadia Children to study and do better in life.  The children today are studying with various hostels.  Chandra will be the first child from Vadia to complete graduation and we are sure he isn’t going to be the  last cause there are many following him…

સરાણીયા જાતિની ગૌરવ ચંદ્ર અમારા માટે પણ આશાનું કિરણ છે.....

વડીયામાં રહેતા બાળકો નાની ઉંમરમાં પરિપક્વ થઇ ગયેલા. ગામમાં પ્રાથમિક શાળા ખરી પણ ભાગ્યે જ ખુલે. શિક્ષકોને આ ગામમાં નોકરી મળે એ સજા લાગે અટલે બાળકો પાછળ મેહનત ના કરે અને બાળકો તથા એમનાં વાલીઓને પણ બાળકોના ભણતરની કે ભવિષ્યની જરાયે ચિંતા નહિ. ૨૦૦૭-૦૮માં અમે એક સાથે 40 બાળકોને વિવિધ આશ્રમશાળામાં દાખલ કર્યા પણ મોટાભાગના બાળકોને ત્યાં ફાવ્યું નહિ. કેટલીક આશ્રમશાળામાં આપણે કહ્યું એટલે આ બાળકોને શાળામાં પ્રવેશ આપ્યો પણ બાળકો સાથેનો વ્યવહાર બરાબર નહોતો.. તો કેટલીક જગ્યાએ વાડિયાના બાળકો અમારું વાતાવરણ ખરાબ કરી નાખશે એમ કહીને બાળકોને રાખવાની ના પાડી દીધી. આ બધામાં ચંદ્ર નામનો બાળક સિધ્ધપુર સ્થિત યોગાંજલિ આશ્રમમાં ટકી ગયો અને ત્યાં ધો-૧૦ સુધી ભણ્યો. ધો -૧૧ અને ધો -૧૨ એણે સિદ્ધપુરમાં જ સ્વામીનારાયણ ગુરુકુળમાં રહીને પૂરું કર્યું. તે પછી બી.બી.એ માં એણે પ્રવેશ મેળવ્યો. ચંદ્ર અમારા માટે આશાનું કિરણ છે. બાળકો ભણશે તો જ ગામમાં બદલાવની ઝંખના છે તે આવી શકશે એવું અમારું માનવું છે. ચંદ્રથી શરુ થયેલી સફરમાં એના પરિવારના અન્ય બાળકો પણ જોડાયા અને જુદી જુદી હોસ્ટેલમાં રહીને ભણી રહ્યા છે..

ચંદ્ર બી.બી.એ ના છેલ્લા સેમીસ્ટરમાં ભણી રહ્યો છે સાથે સાથે એમ.બી.એ ની પણ તૈયારી કરી રહ્યો છે. તે સરાણીયા જાતિનો પહેલો છોકરો છે જે આટલું ભણ્યો છે. ચંદ્રના અભ્યાસમાં અમદાવાદનાં જાણીતા બિલ્ડર શ્રી ઉજમશીભાઈ ખંડલા –મોનાર્ક બિલ્ડર્સ મદદરૂપ થઇ રહ્યા છે. તેમના અમે આભારી છીએ.

There is a nomadic settlement  situated 2 kms away from the Dudhrej village of Surendranagar. The settlement consists of families from nomadic communities of Devipujak, Marwari Devipujak Community,Saraniyaa Community, Kangasiyaa Community etc. The settlement has substantial number of children of school going age. To access the nearest government school which is in Dudhrej village the kids have to  walk 2 kms. It is a substantial distance and  the parents  remain hesitant to enrol their kids in this school as Dhangadhara-Surendranagar Highway stands between the settlement and the school, the road accidents in the past have discouraged parents to send their children to school in Dudhrej.  As a remedial measure VSSM initiated a Bridge School in the settlement bringing education to their doorstep. VSSM’s Harshadbhai played a very important role in bringing these children to school and their eventual absorption in the mainstream education system. A system to ferry the children to and from the school was also worked out.  Simultaneously,  efforts to bring a government school to the settlement were also launched by Vicharta Samuday Samarthan Manch -VSSM and persistent efforts did result in sanctioning  of a school in the settlement. However, as it is in India approvals and implementation do not go together, the school never began. We were required to  relaunch our efforts towards getting the school started. This time it began in a makeshift rented structure which could hardly suffice for a proper school, hence the lobbying continued. Finally, the construction has began (as seen in the picture).

The parents who normally decide  to keep their mouth shut and never utter a word  before authorities and villagers spoke up in the School Management Committee ( SMC ) just for the benefit of  their children and succeeded in bringing a government school in their settlement and thus answering the never ending inquires of their kids, “when will we have school in our settlement??” 

VSSM’s Harshadbhai has been instrumental in persuading the parents to work towards the benefit of their children….. 

vssm અને વાલીઓની મહેનતથી ઘર આંગણે નિશાળ આવી..

સુરેન્દ્રનગરનાં દૂધરેજમાં મારવાડી દેવીપૂજક, સરાણીયા, દેવીપૂજક, કાંગસિયા વગેરે પરિવારો રહે. વસાહતથી ગામની શાળા બે કી.મી દૂર અને વળી પાછો વચમાં ધ્રાંગધ્રા-સુરેન્દ્રનગર હાઇવે આવે એટલે બાળકોને શાળામાં મૂકતા વાલીઓ ડરે. અકસ્માતના અનુભવો પણ કારણભૂત. બે વર્ષ સુધી આપણે આ વસાહતના બાળકો માટે બાલઘર ચલાવ્યું. (જે ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે) બાલદોસ્ત હર્ષદની ખૂબ મહેનતથી છોકરાઓ શાળામાં જતા થયા. બાળકોને શાળામાં લેવા-મૂકવાની વ્યવસ્થા ગોઠવી પણ અગત્યનું વસાહતમાં જ શાળા થાય તે હતું. vssmની વારંવારની રજૂઆતના અંતે દૂધરેજ વસાહતમાં જ શાળાની મંજુરી મળી પરંતુ, મુશ્કેલી અમલીકરણની હતી. ખુબ મહેનત પછી કામચલાઉ શાળા એક ભાડાના મકાનમાં શરુ કરી પણ જરૂરિયાત તો એક અલાયદી શાળા થાય એની હતી. ઘણો વખત રાહ જોવાની થઇ. વાંરવારની રજૂઆતના અંતે હવે કામ શરૂ થયું છે. બાળકો સતત પૂછતાં અમારી વસાહતમાં શાળા કેમ નહિ? એ પ્રશ્નનો અંત આવ્યો.. જે ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે.

વસાહતના લોકો ગામલોકો સાથે વાત કરતાં ડરતાં. પણ બાલદોસ્ત હર્ષદના સતત માર્ગદર્શનથી હવે પોતાના બાળકો માટે SMC (સ્કુલ મેનેજમેન્ટ કમિટી)માં રજૂઆત કરતાં થયા અને પોતે પણ SMCનો હિસ્સો બન્યા અને પોતાનાં બાળકો માટે ઘર આંગણે નિશાળ લાવ્યા..
