 “Discipline, punctuality, and sportsmanship—these are three lessons that no textbook can teach, but the playing field does.”

For the overall development of more than 500 students studying at Vallabh Vidya Vihar, classroom education alone is not enough. Our goal is to build strong teamwork among children and help them learn to take leadership roles in managing the school campus as well.

Therefore, along with leadership training, we organized a grand sports festival to teach life lessons through physical effort and on-field experience.

The most attractive part of this sports festival was the games for younger children. When games like lemon-and-spoon, sack race, flour blowing, and musical chairs began on the field, the atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy.

Sack Race: As children jumped with their legs inside sacks and fell on the field, their determination to get up again and keep running—without fear of losing—was truly admirable.

Flour Blowing: This game created a lot of fun! Seeing children’s faces covered in flour in their excitement to find chocolates made everyone burst into laughter.

Musical Chairs: In the rush to grab a chair to the rhythm of the music, children learned lessons of alertness and time awareness.

Enthusiasm of Young Athletes: Kabaddi and Cricket

For the older students, their favorite game, kabaddi, was organized. In their efforts to help one another and lead their team to victory, true teamwork was clearly visible.

In addition, children participated with great enthusiasm in games like shot put and cricket. In cricket, students from 8th and 9th grades defeated older students. They repeatedly said that despite being younger, they won because of excellent teamwork. Listening to them made us feel that our goal of teaching strong teamwork had truly been achieved.

This sports festival, which began early in the morning, was strongly supported by the VSSM and KRSF teams. In encouraging the children and ensuring fair management of the entire competition, Jayantibhai, Bijolbhai, Nikulbhai, Ilaben, Kiranbhai, Vandanaben, Ghanshyambhai, Prakashbhai, Kokilaben, Surekhaben, Tejalben, Nagjibhai, Chaturbhai, Mohanbhai, Mukeshbhai, and many others remained actively involved throughout.

Our effort was to ensure that every child participated in the competition. By playing, children learn to accept defeat and develop sportsmanship. A child who learns to accept defeat on the field and stand up again cannot be defeated by any force in the world.

Today, on the grounds of Vallabh Vidya Vihar – Pansar, it truly felt as though responsible and disciplined citizens of the future were being shaped through sports.

"શિસ્ત, સમયપાલન અને ખેલદિલી – આ ત્રણ પાઠ જે કોઈ પાઠ્યપુસ્તક નથી શીખવી શકતું, તે રમતનું મેદાન શીખવે છે."

વલ્લભ વિદ્યા વિહારમાં અભ્યાસ કરતા ૫૦૦થી વધુ બાળકોના સર્વાંગી વિકાસ માટે માત્ર વર્ગખંડનું શિક્ષણ પૂરતું નથી. અમારો લક્ષ્ય બાળકોમાં મજબૂત 'ટીમ વર્ક' ઉભું થાય અને તેઓ શિક્ષણ સંકુલના સંચાલનમાં પણ આગેવાની લેતા શીખે તે.

એટલે અમે બાળકોને લીડરશિપની તાલીમની સાથે સાથે મેદાન પર પરસેવો પાડીને જીવનના પાઠ શીખવવા માટે 'ભવ્ય રમતોત્સવ' નું આયોજન કર્યું.

આ રમતોત્સવનું સૌથી આકર્ષક પાસું નાના બાળકોની રમતો હતી. મેદાનમાં જ્યારે લીંબુ-ચમચી, કોથળાદોડ, લોટ ફૂંકણી અને સંગીત ખુરશી જેવી રમતો શરૂ થઈ ત્યારે વાતાવરણ હાસ્ય અને આનંદથી ભરાઈ ગયું હતું.

કોથળાદોડ: કોથળામાં પગ ભરાવીને કૂદકા મારતા બાળકો જ્યારે મેદાનમાં પડતા, ત્યારે હારના ડર વગર ફરી ઊભા થઈને દોડવાની તેમની જિજીવિષા જોવા જેવી હતી.

લોટ ફૂંકણી: આ રમતમાં તો ભારે રમુજ થઈ! ચોકલેટ શોધવાની લ્હાયમાં બાળકોના મોંઢા લોટથી ખરડાયેલા જોઈને સૌ કોઈ ખડખડાટ હસી પડ્યા હતા.

સંગીત ખુરશી: મ્યુઝિકના તાલે એક ખુરશી માટેની એ દોડધામમાં બાળકોએ સમયસૂચકતાના પાઠ શીખ્યા.

યુવા ખેલાડીઓનો જોશ: કબડ્ડી અને ક્રિકેટ

મોટા બાળકો માટે તેમની મનપસંદ રમત કબડ્ડીનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું. એકબીજાનો સાથ આપીને ટીમને જીતાડવાની એ મથામણમાં સાચું ટીમવર્ક જોવા મળ્યું.

આ ઉપરાંત ગોળાફેંક અને ક્રિકેટ જેવી રમતોમાં પણ બાળકોએ પૂરા ઉત્સાહથી ભાગ લીધો હતો. ક્રિકેટની ટીમમાં તો આઠમુ, નવમુ ધોરણ ભણતા બાળકોએ એમનાથી મોટી ઉંમરના બાળકોને હરાવ્યા. અમે નાના તોય મોટાઓને અમે ટીમવર્ક સરસ કર્યું એટલે હરાવી શક્યા એવું વારંવાર એમણે કહ્યું.. એમની વાતો સાંભળી અમારી આ ટુલ્લડ મજબૂત ટીમવર્ક શીખી ગયાનું લાગ્યું.

સવારથી જ શરૂ થયેલા આ રમતોત્સવમાં VSSM અને KRSF ટીમની ભૂમિકા પાયાની રહી. બાળકોને પ્રોત્સાહિત કરવામાં અને સમગ્ર સ્પર્ધાનું નિષ્પક્ષ સંચાલન કરવામાં જયંતીભાઈ, બીજોલભાઈ, નીકુલભાઈ, ઈલાબહેન, કિરણભાઈ, વંદનાબહેન, ઘનશ્યામભાઈ, પ્રકાશભાઈ, કોકિલાબેન, સુરેખાબેન, તેજલબેન, નાગજીભાઈ, ચતુરભાઈ, મોહનભાઈ અને મુકેશભાઈ વગેરે સૌ ખડેપગે રહ્યા.

અમારો પ્રયાસ દરેક બાળક સ્પર્ધામાં ભાગ લે તેવો.  રમતા થશે તો હારને પચાવતા શીખશે અને ખેલદિલી કેળવાશે. જે બાળક મેદાન પર હાર પચાવીને ફરી બેઠું થતા શીખી જાય એને દુનિયાની કોઈ તાકાત હરાવી શકતી નથી.

વલ્લભ વિદ્યા વિહાર - પાનસરના આંગણે આજે રમતગમત દ્વારા ભવિષ્યના જવાબદાર અને શિસ્તબદ્ધ નાગરિકો ઘડાયા હોય તેવો અહેસાસ થયો.

Our girls at the hostel have studied well and are now pursuing nursing. Some of them will become pillars of their families in a year or two.

It fills us with joy to play a role in guiding their lives in the right direction.

શિક્ષણ આપવાથી એક વ્યક્તિનું ભલું નથી થતું પણ આખી પેઢી તરી જાય છે..

આ અમારી બચુડિયો અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણી.. હવે નર્સિંગમાં ભણે. કોઈ એક તો કોઈ બે વર્ષમાં પગભર થશે.. 

રાજીપો એમના જીવનને એક દિશામાં લઈ જવામાં નિમિત્ત બનવાનો.

From Hostel Grounds to Champions: Our Kabaddi Stars

“Didi, if you play for four hours, we can do it too. We don’t feel tired.”

“Then where do you feel tired?”

This was the reply I received from some of the children living in our hostel who are the powerhouses of sports. They had just won first place in kabaddi at the Taluka-level Khel Mahakumbh and said this with a smile.

Kabaddi is a sport the children at our hostel play passionately. Gradually, our sports teacher, Rakesh, trained the best players into a strong team and started participating in various competitions. Some of these children have even reached the district and state levels.

After the Diwali vacation, our kabaddi team reached the Taluka-level Khel Mahakumbh. Although they had just returned to the hostel, the next day was the competition. They hadn’t practiced yet and had to step directly onto the field. That night, they practiced until 11:30 PM and, the next day, competed against five other school teams—and they won!

The team that came first at the Taluka level will now represent the district.

At VSSM-run Vallabh Vidya Vihar in Pansar, 507 children are currently studying. After Diwali, around 40 more children will join. In Kakar, Banaskantha, 110 children are studying. In total, we are educating over 600 children. Some of these children are already starting to shine, and that fills us with pride.

We are deeply grateful for the support of the Dr. K.R. Shroff Foundation, Aarti Foundation, and many other well-wishers, who have played a big role in this work.

 "દીદી રમવાનું તમે ચાર કલાક ક્યો તો અમે કરી લઈએ. અમને એમાં થાક નો લાગે.."

 "તો થાક શેમાં લાગ?"

મારા પ્રશ્નનો જવાબ મારી સામે ઊભેલા અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં રહેતા બાળકોમાંથી રમતગમતમાં જેઓ પાવરધા છે. જેઓ તાલુકા કક્ષાએ આયોજિત ખેલ મહાકુંભમાં કબડ્ડીમાં મેદાન મારીને એટલે કે પ્રથમ આવ્યા હતા એમણે સ્મીત સાથે આપ્યો.કબડ્ડી અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણતા બાળકો ખૂબ રમે. ધીમે ધીમે એમાંથી એક મજબૂત ટીમ અમારા રમતગમતના શિક્ષક રાકેશે તૈયાર કરી ને એને વિવિધ સ્પર્ધાઓમાં ભાગ લેવડાવવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. જિલ્લા અને રાજ્ય સ્તર સુધી ટીમમાંથી કેટલાક બાળકો પહોંચ્યા.

દિવાળી વેકેશન પછી તાલુકા ખેલ મહાકુંભમાં અમારી કબડ્ડીની ટીમ પહોંચી. આમ તો વેકેશન પછી હોસ્ટેલમાં આવે એક જ દિવસ થયો હતો. બીજા દિવસે રમવા જવાનું હતું. પ્રેક્ટીશ થઈ નહોતી. સવારે સીધા મેદાનમાં ઉતરવાનું હતું.તે રાત્રના સાડા અગિયાર વાગ્યા સુધી સૌએ પ્રેકટીસ કરી ને બીજા દિવસે પાંચ શાળાની ટીમ સાથે એમની સ્પર્ધા થઈને એમાં એમણે મેદાન માર્યું.

તાલુકા કક્ષાએ પ્રથમ આવેલી ટીમ હવે જિલ્લામાં રમવા જશે..

VSSM સંચાલિત વલ્લભ વિદ્યા વિહાર- પાનસરમાં 507 બાળકો ભણે. દિવાળી પછી બીજા 40 જેટલા બાળકો ભણવા આવશે. બનાસકાંઠાના કાકરમાં 110 બાળકો ભણે આમ 600 ઉપરાંત બાળકોને શિક્ષણ આપવામાં અમે નિમિત્ત બની રહ્યા છીએ. આ બાળકોમાંથી કેટલાક આમ ઝળકવા માંડ્યા છે એનો રાજીપો. ને આ કાર્યમાં ડો. કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશન, આરતી ફાઉન્ડેશન ને અન્ય સ્વજનોનો સહયોગ ઘણો મોટો. એમના અમે આભારી છીએ.

When Drishti first came to the VSSM-run hostel, she was very young. At that time, it seemed that perhaps she wouldn’t continue her studies beyond the 10th grade. But she stayed determined, worked hard, passed the 12th standard, and gained admission into a nursing course.

While studying nursing, she started her duties at the hospital, attending to patients. She was assigned to the children’s ward. She says, “When I hold a small child in my hands, the feeling is so profound that it’s difficult to put into words.” ❤️

In the community Drishti comes from, very few girls get the opportunity to study. Many girls she studied alongside have now become mothers. But Drishti got a chance, received trust, and that changed her life.

Many girls like Drishti study in our hostel. After the 12th standard, we enroll them in various technical courses so that they can become independent and ease the struggles of their families. At Goraj Muni Sevashram, many of our hostel students are pursuing nursing.

Sometimes, if a child feels discouraged or faces difficulties, we must run to them, place a hand on their shoulder, and explain: “Success in life doesn’t come without struggle. Accept the struggle.” We continue to motivate them enthusiastically so they regain confidence and progress in their studies.

Rekha, Pinkal, Neeta… all of them were very young when they first came to the hostel. Today, they are filled with confidence—some aspire to master nursing, while others are ready to go abroad for further studies.

In their eyes, there are dreams; in their hearts, curiosity; and in their minds, a single purpose—to learn and give back to society.

Hearing such words from them fills one with immense joy.

અમારી દૃષ્ટિ જ્યારે પહેલીવાર VSSM સંચાલિત હોસ્ટેલમાં આવી, ત્યારે એ બહુ નાની હતી. એ વખતે લાગ્યું કે કદાચ દસમા પછી એ આગળ નહીં ભણે. પણ એણે હિંમત રાખી, મહેનત કરી, બારમું ધોરણ પાસ કર્યું અને નર્સીંગના કોર્સમાં પ્રવેશ મેળવ્યો.

નર્સીંગ ભણતા ભણતા એ હોસ્પિટલમાં ડ્યુટી કરતી, દર્દીઓને તપાસતી. નાના બાળકોના વોર્ડમાં એની ડ્યુટી આવી. એ કહે — “જ્યારે નાનાં બાળકને હાથમાં લઉં છું, એ વખતે જે લાગણી થાય છે એ શબ્દોમાં કહેવી મુશ્કેલ છે.” ❤️

દૃષ્ટિ જે સમાજમાંથી આવે છે, ત્યાં દિકરીઓ બહુ ઓછું ભણે. એની સાથે ભણતી અનેક દિકરીઓ તો હવે બાળકોની મા બની ગઈ છે. પણ દૃષ્ટિને તક મળી, વિશ્વાસ મળ્યો, એટલે એની જિંદગી બદલાઈ.

અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં દૃષ્ટિ જેવી અનેક દિકરીઓ ભણે છે. અમે ધોરણ 12 પછી તેમને વિવિધ ટેકનિકલ કોર્સમાં દાખલ કરાવીએ છીએ — જેથી એ પગભર બને, પોતાનો અને પરિવારનો સંઘર્ષ હળવો કરે. ગોરજ મુની સેવાશ્રમમાં અમારા ત્યાં ભણતા અનેક બાળકો નર્સીંગ ભણી રહ્યા છે. આ બાળકોમાંથી ક્યારેક કોઈ બાળક નિરાશ થાય, મુશ્કેલી અનુભવે ત્યારે અમારે દોડવું પડે, એના ખભા પર હાથ રાખી સમજાવવું પડે કે — “સંઘર્ષ વગર જીવનમાં સફળતા નહીં મળે. માટે સંઘર્ષને સ્વીકારો.” ઉત્સાહભેર વાતો સતત કરીએ એનાથી પાછા એ પ્રોત્સાહીત થાય ને ભણતરમાં આગળ વધે. 

રેખા, પીંકલ, નીતા… આ બધા તો હોસ્ટેલમાં આવ્યા ત્યારે સાવ નાનાં હતા. આજે એ બધા આત્મવિશ્વાસથી ભરેલા  છે — કોઈ નર્સીંગમાં માસ્ટર કરવા ઈચ્છે છે, તો કોઈ વિદેશ જઈ વધુ ભણવા તૈયાર થયા છે.

એમની આંખોમાં સપના છે, હૃદયમાં જિજ્ઞાસા છે, ને મનમાં એક જ ભાવના ભણીને સમાજને પાછું આપવાની છે.

એમના મોંઢે આવી વાતો સાંભળીએ ત્યારે રાજી થવાય.

Empowering Marginalized Communities Through Education...

VSSM's Vallabh vidya vihar campus

“Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela’s words are absolutely true.

Today many deprived individuals received the opportunity to study and transformed their lives. But many people from the wandering and nomadic tribes are still deprived of this opportunity. We firmly believe that the entire society along with the government must work with love and responsibility for the welfare of these communities.

VSSM is making efforts so that the light of education spreads within these communities. We have established two hostels.

In Banaskantha’s Kakar, at the Shrimati Viraben Medhajibhai Shah (Chanderiya) Hostel, 110 children are currently studying. The hostel is still taking its early steps, but we hope that many students will study here and move ahead towards a bright future.

We have set up another institute, Vallabh Vidya Vihar, in Pansar, Gandhinagar. Two hostel blocks, a kitchen, and a dining hall have already been completed. The school building is yet to be constructed, and its work will begin soon. At present, more than 500 children study here.

It is equally necessary for the government to create special provisions—such as reservation and dedicated schemes—for the education and dignified employment of children belonging to these communities.

The fruits of independence have still not reached these communities living at the margins of society. Much work remains to be done, and for that, society must move forward along with the government.

Education is not merely academics—it is the power to transform lives. That is why we strive to make maximum efforts for the education of children from these communities.

“શિક્ષણ એ સૌથી શક્તિશાળી ઓજાર છે, જેનાથી તમે દુનિયા બદલી શકો છો.” – નેલ્સન મંડેલાનું આ વાક્ય એકદમ બરાબર. 

આજે અનેક વંચિત વ્યક્તિઓને ભણવાની તક મળી ને એમની જીંદગી બદલાઈ. પણ વિચરતી વિમુક્ત જાતિઓમાંના ઘણા હજુયે આ તકથી વંચિત. આ સમુદાયોના કલ્યાણ માટે પ્રેમથી આખા સમાજે સરકારે લાગવું જોઈએ એવું અમે દૃઢપણે માનીયે.

VSSM શિક્ષણરૂપી પ્રકાશ આ સમુદાયોમાં પથરાય એ માટે પ્રયત્નો કરે. અમે બે હોસ્ટેલ સ્થાપી. બનાસકાંઠાના કાકરમાં શ્રીમતી વીરાબહેન મેધજીભાઈ શાહ (ચંદેરિયા) છાત્રાલયમાં હાલ 110 બાળકો ભણે છે. આમ તો આ છાત્રાલય પાપા પગલી ભરી રહ્યું છે. પણ આશા છે અહીંયાથી અનેક બાળકો ભવિષ્યમાં ભણીને બહાર નીકળશે. 

આવું જ બીજુ વલ્લભ વિદ્યા વિહાર અમે ગાંધીનગરના પાનસરમાં સ્થાપ્યું. અહીંયા બે હોસ્ટેલ બ્લોક, રસોડુ, ડાયનીંગ હોલ તૈયાર થઈ ગયો છે. હજુ નિશાળ બનવાની બાકી. થોડા સમયમાં નિશાળનું બાંધકામ પણ શરૃ કરીશું. હાલ અહીંયા 500 ઉપરાંત બાળકો ભણે. સરકાર દ્વારા આ સમુદાયના બાળકોના ભણતર માટે તેમજ તેમના શિક્ષણ અને તેમને સ્વમાનભેર કામ મળે તે નોકરીઓમાં અનામત જેવી અલાયદી વ્યવસ્થાઓ થાય તે પણ એટલી જરૃરી. સમાજના છેવાડે વસતા આ સમુદાયો સુધી આઝાદીના ફળ પહોંચ્યા નથી.. ઘણું બધુ કરવાનું બાકી છે ને એ માટે સરકારની સાથે સાથે સમાજ પણ આગળ આવે તે ઈચ્છનીય..

શિક્ષણ માત્ર ભણતર નથી પણ તે જીવન બદલવાની શક્તિ છે. એટલે જ આ સમુદાયના બાળકોના ભણતર માટે મહત્તમ પ્રયત્નો કરવાનું કરીએ.

Nurturing Nature with Young Minds...

“At our hostel in Kakargam, Banaskantha, we carried out tree plantation with the children studying here — along with a small procession of the Tree Deity. It is important that children become sensitive towards nature along with their studies.”

બનાસકાંઠાના કાકરગામમાં આવેલી અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણતા બાળકો સાથે વૃક્ષ રોપણ કર્યું એ પણ વૃક્ષ દેવની નાનકડી શોભાયાત્રા કરીને.. બાળકો પ્રકૃતિ પ્રત્યે સંવેદનશીલ બને એ પણ ભણતર સાથે જરૂરી..
