 “Discipline, punctuality, and sportsmanship—these are three lessons that no textbook can teach, but the playing field does.”

For the overall development of more than 500 students studying at Vallabh Vidya Vihar, classroom education alone is not enough. Our goal is to build strong teamwork among children and help them learn to take leadership roles in managing the school campus as well.

Therefore, along with leadership training, we organized a grand sports festival to teach life lessons through physical effort and on-field experience.

The most attractive part of this sports festival was the games for younger children. When games like lemon-and-spoon, sack race, flour blowing, and musical chairs began on the field, the atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy.

Sack Race: As children jumped with their legs inside sacks and fell on the field, their determination to get up again and keep running—without fear of losing—was truly admirable.

Flour Blowing: This game created a lot of fun! Seeing children’s faces covered in flour in their excitement to find chocolates made everyone burst into laughter.

Musical Chairs: In the rush to grab a chair to the rhythm of the music, children learned lessons of alertness and time awareness.

Enthusiasm of Young Athletes: Kabaddi and Cricket

For the older students, their favorite game, kabaddi, was organized. In their efforts to help one another and lead their team to victory, true teamwork was clearly visible.

In addition, children participated with great enthusiasm in games like shot put and cricket. In cricket, students from 8th and 9th grades defeated older students. They repeatedly said that despite being younger, they won because of excellent teamwork. Listening to them made us feel that our goal of teaching strong teamwork had truly been achieved.

This sports festival, which began early in the morning, was strongly supported by the VSSM and KRSF teams. In encouraging the children and ensuring fair management of the entire competition, Jayantibhai, Bijolbhai, Nikulbhai, Ilaben, Kiranbhai, Vandanaben, Ghanshyambhai, Prakashbhai, Kokilaben, Surekhaben, Tejalben, Nagjibhai, Chaturbhai, Mohanbhai, Mukeshbhai, and many others remained actively involved throughout.

Our effort was to ensure that every child participated in the competition. By playing, children learn to accept defeat and develop sportsmanship. A child who learns to accept defeat on the field and stand up again cannot be defeated by any force in the world.

Today, on the grounds of Vallabh Vidya Vihar – Pansar, it truly felt as though responsible and disciplined citizens of the future were being shaped through sports.

"શિસ્ત, સમયપાલન અને ખેલદિલી – આ ત્રણ પાઠ જે કોઈ પાઠ્યપુસ્તક નથી શીખવી શકતું, તે રમતનું મેદાન શીખવે છે."

વલ્લભ વિદ્યા વિહારમાં અભ્યાસ કરતા ૫૦૦થી વધુ બાળકોના સર્વાંગી વિકાસ માટે માત્ર વર્ગખંડનું શિક્ષણ પૂરતું નથી. અમારો લક્ષ્ય બાળકોમાં મજબૂત 'ટીમ વર્ક' ઉભું થાય અને તેઓ શિક્ષણ સંકુલના સંચાલનમાં પણ આગેવાની લેતા શીખે તે.

એટલે અમે બાળકોને લીડરશિપની તાલીમની સાથે સાથે મેદાન પર પરસેવો પાડીને જીવનના પાઠ શીખવવા માટે 'ભવ્ય રમતોત્સવ' નું આયોજન કર્યું.

આ રમતોત્સવનું સૌથી આકર્ષક પાસું નાના બાળકોની રમતો હતી. મેદાનમાં જ્યારે લીંબુ-ચમચી, કોથળાદોડ, લોટ ફૂંકણી અને સંગીત ખુરશી જેવી રમતો શરૂ થઈ ત્યારે વાતાવરણ હાસ્ય અને આનંદથી ભરાઈ ગયું હતું.

કોથળાદોડ: કોથળામાં પગ ભરાવીને કૂદકા મારતા બાળકો જ્યારે મેદાનમાં પડતા, ત્યારે હારના ડર વગર ફરી ઊભા થઈને દોડવાની તેમની જિજીવિષા જોવા જેવી હતી.

લોટ ફૂંકણી: આ રમતમાં તો ભારે રમુજ થઈ! ચોકલેટ શોધવાની લ્હાયમાં બાળકોના મોંઢા લોટથી ખરડાયેલા જોઈને સૌ કોઈ ખડખડાટ હસી પડ્યા હતા.

સંગીત ખુરશી: મ્યુઝિકના તાલે એક ખુરશી માટેની એ દોડધામમાં બાળકોએ સમયસૂચકતાના પાઠ શીખ્યા.

યુવા ખેલાડીઓનો જોશ: કબડ્ડી અને ક્રિકેટ

મોટા બાળકો માટે તેમની મનપસંદ રમત કબડ્ડીનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું. એકબીજાનો સાથ આપીને ટીમને જીતાડવાની એ મથામણમાં સાચું ટીમવર્ક જોવા મળ્યું.

આ ઉપરાંત ગોળાફેંક અને ક્રિકેટ જેવી રમતોમાં પણ બાળકોએ પૂરા ઉત્સાહથી ભાગ લીધો હતો. ક્રિકેટની ટીમમાં તો આઠમુ, નવમુ ધોરણ ભણતા બાળકોએ એમનાથી મોટી ઉંમરના બાળકોને હરાવ્યા. અમે નાના તોય મોટાઓને અમે ટીમવર્ક સરસ કર્યું એટલે હરાવી શક્યા એવું વારંવાર એમણે કહ્યું.. એમની વાતો સાંભળી અમારી આ ટુલ્લડ મજબૂત ટીમવર્ક શીખી ગયાનું લાગ્યું.

સવારથી જ શરૂ થયેલા આ રમતોત્સવમાં VSSM અને KRSF ટીમની ભૂમિકા પાયાની રહી. બાળકોને પ્રોત્સાહિત કરવામાં અને સમગ્ર સ્પર્ધાનું નિષ્પક્ષ સંચાલન કરવામાં જયંતીભાઈ, બીજોલભાઈ, નીકુલભાઈ, ઈલાબહેન, કિરણભાઈ, વંદનાબહેન, ઘનશ્યામભાઈ, પ્રકાશભાઈ, કોકિલાબેન, સુરેખાબેન, તેજલબેન, નાગજીભાઈ, ચતુરભાઈ, મોહનભાઈ અને મુકેશભાઈ વગેરે સૌ ખડેપગે રહ્યા.

અમારો પ્રયાસ દરેક બાળક સ્પર્ધામાં ભાગ લે તેવો.  રમતા થશે તો હારને પચાવતા શીખશે અને ખેલદિલી કેળવાશે. જે બાળક મેદાન પર હાર પચાવીને ફરી બેઠું થતા શીખી જાય એને દુનિયાની કોઈ તાકાત હરાવી શકતી નથી.

વલ્લભ વિદ્યા વિહાર - પાનસરના આંગણે આજે રમતગમત દ્વારા ભવિષ્યના જવાબદાર અને શિસ્તબદ્ધ નાગરિકો ઘડાયા હોય તેવો અહેસાસ થયો.

From Hostel Grounds to Champions: Our Kabaddi Stars

“Didi, if you play for four hours, we can do it too. We don’t feel tired.”

“Then where do you feel tired?”

This was the reply I received from some of the children living in our hostel who are the powerhouses of sports. They had just won first place in kabaddi at the Taluka-level Khel Mahakumbh and said this with a smile.

Kabaddi is a sport the children at our hostel play passionately. Gradually, our sports teacher, Rakesh, trained the best players into a strong team and started participating in various competitions. Some of these children have even reached the district and state levels.

After the Diwali vacation, our kabaddi team reached the Taluka-level Khel Mahakumbh. Although they had just returned to the hostel, the next day was the competition. They hadn’t practiced yet and had to step directly onto the field. That night, they practiced until 11:30 PM and, the next day, competed against five other school teams—and they won!

The team that came first at the Taluka level will now represent the district.

At VSSM-run Vallabh Vidya Vihar in Pansar, 507 children are currently studying. After Diwali, around 40 more children will join. In Kakar, Banaskantha, 110 children are studying. In total, we are educating over 600 children. Some of these children are already starting to shine, and that fills us with pride.

We are deeply grateful for the support of the Dr. K.R. Shroff Foundation, Aarti Foundation, and many other well-wishers, who have played a big role in this work.

 "દીદી રમવાનું તમે ચાર કલાક ક્યો તો અમે કરી લઈએ. અમને એમાં થાક નો લાગે.."

 "તો થાક શેમાં લાગ?"

મારા પ્રશ્નનો જવાબ મારી સામે ઊભેલા અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં રહેતા બાળકોમાંથી રમતગમતમાં જેઓ પાવરધા છે. જેઓ તાલુકા કક્ષાએ આયોજિત ખેલ મહાકુંભમાં કબડ્ડીમાં મેદાન મારીને એટલે કે પ્રથમ આવ્યા હતા એમણે સ્મીત સાથે આપ્યો.કબડ્ડી અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણતા બાળકો ખૂબ રમે. ધીમે ધીમે એમાંથી એક મજબૂત ટીમ અમારા રમતગમતના શિક્ષક રાકેશે તૈયાર કરી ને એને વિવિધ સ્પર્ધાઓમાં ભાગ લેવડાવવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. જિલ્લા અને રાજ્ય સ્તર સુધી ટીમમાંથી કેટલાક બાળકો પહોંચ્યા.

દિવાળી વેકેશન પછી તાલુકા ખેલ મહાકુંભમાં અમારી કબડ્ડીની ટીમ પહોંચી. આમ તો વેકેશન પછી હોસ્ટેલમાં આવે એક જ દિવસ થયો હતો. બીજા દિવસે રમવા જવાનું હતું. પ્રેક્ટીશ થઈ નહોતી. સવારે સીધા મેદાનમાં ઉતરવાનું હતું.તે રાત્રના સાડા અગિયાર વાગ્યા સુધી સૌએ પ્રેકટીસ કરી ને બીજા દિવસે પાંચ શાળાની ટીમ સાથે એમની સ્પર્ધા થઈને એમાં એમણે મેદાન માર્યું.

તાલુકા કક્ષાએ પ્રથમ આવેલી ટીમ હવે જિલ્લામાં રમવા જશે..

VSSM સંચાલિત વલ્લભ વિદ્યા વિહાર- પાનસરમાં 507 બાળકો ભણે. દિવાળી પછી બીજા 40 જેટલા બાળકો ભણવા આવશે. બનાસકાંઠાના કાકરમાં 110 બાળકો ભણે આમ 600 ઉપરાંત બાળકોને શિક્ષણ આપવામાં અમે નિમિત્ત બની રહ્યા છીએ. આ બાળકોમાંથી કેટલાક આમ ઝળકવા માંડ્યા છે એનો રાજીપો. ને આ કાર્યમાં ડો. કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશન, આરતી ફાઉન્ડેશન ને અન્ય સ્વજનોનો સહયોગ ઘણો મોટો. એમના અમે આભારી છીએ.

I often sing this joyful rhyme: ( અમે નાના નાના બાળ અમે મોટા થાશું ને જગ દોરશું! ) 'We, small kids, will grow older and guide the world!'  whenever I see the school kids studying in our hostel. It expresses my feelings about how, when they grow up, they will contribute significantly to the development of the world.

These kids are full of excitement! Leela, Hetal, Gayatri, Gita, Jhanavi, Kartik, Vipul, and Tarun all came to the hostel to study when they were little. Even though they are still young, their dreams are immense!

Leela once told me, 'Didi, you dreamed of becoming an IAS officer. But then you got involved in welfare work for our community. I, however, will become an officer when I grow up.' This sentiment is shared by Gayatri, Hetal, Vipul, and all the others.

Hetal has been studying in the hostel since she was very young. She is quite stubborn, but she is also sensitive and emotional. Gita's mother harbors big dreams for her daughters. Living in a small hut, she felt that the best chance for her daughters to receive an excellent education was to send them to the hostel from a young age.

All of the children have now completed either Std. 10 or Std. 12, and they have big dreams. We are committed to supporting them in achieving those dreams.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the honorable Shri Chandrakantbhai Gogri and the Aarti Parivar for their immense help in establishing a hostel system that provides children with an excellent education. We are also thankful for the support of many well-wishers who contributed to the construction of the hostel.

We are especially grateful for the continuous support from Respected Shri Pratulbhai Shroff of the Dr. K R Shroff Foundation, who ensures that the children in the hostel receive the best education possible. He has provided teachers to educate these children and has also helped cover hostel costs. Without his assistance, operating the hostel would be impossible. Pratulbhai is always involved in the management of the hostel and has taken on the responsibility of supporting the children's education. I am truly thankful for his kind and affectionate support.

We would also like to acknowledge the hard work of all our hostel staff: Dimpleben, Vanita, Jayantibhai, Bijol, Kiran, Ghanshyam, Vandana, Kokila, Surekha, Milan, Thakarashibhai, Chaturbhai, Tejalben, and others.

અમે નાના નાના બાળ અમે મોટા થાશું ને જગ દોરશું.

આ મજાનું બાળગીત, અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણતા બાળકોને જ્યારે જોવું ત્યારે ગાલું ને કાલ આ બધા મોટા થશે ને જગતના ઘડતરમાં પોતાનું ઉત્તમ આપશે એવો ભાવ વ્યક્ત કરુ.

આમ આ બધા છે પણ મજાના. અમારી લીલા, હેતલ, ગાયત્રી, ગીતા, જાનવી, કાર્તીક, વિપુલ, તરુણ તો બહુ નાના હતા ત્યારથી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણવા આવેલા. હતા બધા નાના પણ એમના સપનાઓ મોટા.

લીલા તો કહે,દીદી તમે IAS ઓફીસર બનવાનું સપનું સેવેલું પણ તમે અમારા સમુદાયના પરિચયમાં આવ્યા ને અમારા સમુદાયના કલ્યાણના કામોમાં લાગી ગયા તે હું મોટી થઈને અધિકારી બનીશ..

આવા જ સપના ગાયત્રી, હેતલ, વિપુલ સૌના.. હેતલ તો બહુ નાની હતી ત્યારથી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણે સખત જીદ્દી પણ લાગણીવાળી પણ ખરી. ગીતાની મમ્મીના સમણા મોટા. એ ઝૂંપડામાં રહે. પણ પોતાની દીકરીઓ ઉત્તમ ભણે એવી લાગણી સાથે તેમણે નાનપણથી પોતાની દીકરીઓને હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણવા મૂકી.

આ બધાએ હવે ધો. 12 તો કેટલાકે ધો.10 પુરુ કર્યું. આ બધાના સમણા બહુ મોટા છે. પણ એ પુરા કરવામાં અમે એમના પડખે ઊભા રહીશું.

બાળકો ઉત્તમ ભણે તે માટે હોસ્ટેલ વ્યવસ્થા ઊભી કરવામાં આદરણીય ચંદ્રકાન્તભાઈ ગોગરી -આરતી પરિવારની સૌથી મોટી મદદ મળી, આ સિવાય પણ અનેક સ્વજનોએ હોસ્ટેલ બાંધકામમાં મદદ કરી એ સૌની લાગણી માટે આભારી.

હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણતા બાળકો ઉત્તમ ભણે તે માટે આદરણીય પ્રતુલભાઈ શ્રોફ - ડો. કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશનની મદદ સતત મળે. એમણે આ બાળકોના ભણતર માટે શિક્ષકો પુરા પાડ્યા. આ સિવાય હોસ્ટેલ નિભાવ ખર્ચમાં પણ એમનો સહયોગ. એમની મદદ વગર હોસ્ટેલ વ્યવસ્થા ચલાવવી અસંભવ. પ્રતુલભાઈ તો હોસ્ટેલ વ્યવસ્થામાં સતત સાથે. બાળકોના શિક્ષણનો ભાર તેમણે ઉપાડી લીધો. તેમની આ લાગણી માટે આભારી છું.

અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં રહીને ભણતા બાળકો અમારી હોસ્ટેલ આસપાસના ગામોમાં આવેલી વિવિધ શાળાઓમાં ભણે. આ શાળાના શિક્ષણગણની પણ આ બાળકોના ઘડતરમાં મહેનત. એમના અમે આભારી છીએ.

અમારી હોસ્ટેલનો તમામ સ્ટાફ પ્રિય ડીમ્પલબેન, વનીતા, જયંતીભાઈ,બીજોલ, કીરણ, ધનશ્યામ, વંદના, કોકીલા, સુરેખા, મીલન, ઠાકરશીભાઈ, ચતુરભાઈ, તેજલબેન વગેરેની મહેનતને પણ પ્રણામ.

શિક્ષણ એ એવો દિવો છે જે વ્યક્તિને અંધારામાંથી અજવાળા તરફ લઈ જાય છે. અમારા બાળકો અજવાળાના સ્વપ્નો જોવા માંડ્યા છે. બસ એમના સપના સાકાર થાય એવી શુભભાવના..

Education is like a touchstone (Parasmani).  Life changes for whomever comes in it's contact. Under our education & vocation schemes we have provided loans to thousands of aspiring people and changed their lives for better. However, we are not satisfied with what we have done so far. We yearn for more people to live a better life. If many others think like us the world will be a much better place to live as more people will rise from abject poverty.

We are building an educational campus at Pansar near Gandhinagar. About 1000 Boys & Girls can stay comfortably there. Alongwith with education we will provide vocational training. We will have sports facilities including a playground. We will train them for competitive examinations. We will strive to do all that would facilitate their growth and become wonderful citizens of our country.

In the first phase we have almost completed the construction of Hostels. Now we shall start construction of a school and vocational training centre.

You all can join hands in this mammoth task. In this mission of providing education, your contribution will be valuable. Your help will ultimately help the deprived children. That is for sure.

શિક્ષણ એ પારસમણી જેવું. કોઈને અડી જાય તો એનું જીવન બદલાઈ જાય.

અમે શિક્ષણ અને સ્વાવલંબન કાર્યક્રમ થકી સ્વતંત્ર વ્યવસાય માટે લોન આપી હજારો લોકોનું જીવન બદલવામાં નિમિત્ત બન્યા છીએ.

અમે ગાંધીનગર પાસેના પાનસરગામામાં વલ્લભ વિદ્યા સંકુલનું નિર્માણ કરી રહ્યા છે. હજાર દિકરા દિકરી રહી શકે એવી વ્યવસ્થા છે.

ભણતરની સાથે બાળકોને વિવિધ વ્યવસાયની તાલીમ, રમતગમતમાં બાળકો અવલ્લ આવે તે માટે રમતગમતનું મેદાન, સ્પર્ધાત્મક પરિક્ષાની તૈયારીઓ બધુયે આ સંકુલમાં બાળકોને કરાવીશું જેથી એ ઉત્તમ જિંદગી જીવી શકે. સાથે  દેશના એ ઉત્તમ નાગરિક  બની શકે.

પ્રથમ તબક્કામાં બે હોસ્ટેલ બીલ્ડીંગનું બાંધકામ પૂર્ણ થયું હવે નિશાળ અને વોકેશનલ ટ્રેનીંગનું બાંધકામ શરૃ  થશે.

Healthy competition is good for the growth of a person. That is why during school  times the students are encouraged to participate in various competitions. The win-lose during these competitions help one to understand the ups and downs of life and the strength to withstand the tough times.

VSSM runs two hostels. One is in Kakar village in Banaskantha district. The other one called Vishwa Mangalam is in Himmatnagar managed in association with Vishwamangalam Trust. The girls staying in this hostel take training to learn music. Their progress is gauged in the competition they participate in.

Recently a Youth Festival at District & State level was organised. In this, the students from our hostels participated. They came first in a group & musical song category at the District level. At the State level they finished honourable fourth in a competition organised at Hemchandra University in Patan.

They had trained hard for the first position but  there were others who were better. However, every participant learns much more about life than just about competition.

The students were encouraged by Mayankbhai Jadhav, Nalinbhai, Bijalbhai, Ghanshyambhai, Dimpleben and Vanita.

The participants who performed brilliantly were Rekha, Shilpa, Puri, Apeksha, Jiya, Jhanvi & Mittal. Our congratulations to them. We wish them bigger success in their future endeavours.

સ્પર્ધા માણસના ઘડતર માટે ઉપયોગી. એટલે જ શાળા જીવન દરમ્યાન આયોજીત થતી વિવિધ સ્પર્ધાઓમાં વિદ્યાર્થીને ભાગ લેવડાવવાનું ખાસ કરાવવામાં આવે. સ્પર્ધા દરમ્યાન થતી હાર જીત જીવનના ચડાવ ઉતારમાં ટકી રહેવાનો જુસ્સો આપે. 

VSSM બે છાત્રાલય ચલાવે. એક છાત્રાલય બનાસકાંઠાના કાકરમાં ચાલે. જ્યારે બીજુ વિશ્વ મંગલમ અનેરા - હિંમતનગર પાસે વિશ્વમંગલમ ટ્રસ્ટની સાથે ચાલે. આ છાત્રાલયમાં ભણતી વિદ્યાર્થીઓ સંગીતની તાલીમ લે. તાલીમનું નિદર્શન વિવિધ સ્પર્ધમાં થાય.

તાજેતરમાં જિલ્લા અને રાજ્યકક્ષાનો યુવા મહોત્વસ આયોજીત થયો. એમાં અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણતી દિકરીઓએ ભાગ લીધો. જિલ્લા કક્ષાએ સમૂહગીત અને સુગમ સંગીતમાં પ્રથમ આવી. રાજ્યકક્ષાની સ્પર્ધા પાટણ હેમચંદ્રાચાર્ય યુનિવર્સીટીમાં આયોજીત થઈ જેમાં દિકરીઓ ચોથા ક્રમે આવી. 

મહેનત પ્રથમ નંબર મળે તેવી કરી હતી. પણ એમના કરતા વધારે ઉત્તમ કરવાવાળા વિદ્યાર્થીઓ સ્પર્ધામાં આવ્યા. પણ દરેક વિદ્યાર્થી સ્પર્ધામાં નંબર મેળવવાની લાલસાની સાથે સાથે અન્ય ઘણું શીખે, જે અમારી દીકરીઓ શીખી. 

દિકરીઓને સંગીતમાં મયંકભાઈ જાદવ, નલિનભાઈ, બીજોલભાઈ, ઘનશ્યામભાઈ, ડિમ્પલબેન અને અમારી વનિતાનું પ્રોત્સાહન મળ્યું. 

સંગીતમાં ઉત્કૃષ્ઠ પ્રદર્શન કરનાર અમારી રેખા, શિલ્પા, પૂરી, ભૂમિકા, અપેક્ષા.જીયા, જાહનવી, મિત્તલને અભીનંદન તેમજ ભવિષ્યમાં ખુબ પ્રગતિ કરી સફળતાના શીખરે પહોંચે તેવી શુભભાવના..

Bajaniya Community meets Mittal Patel at VSSM's office

The immense possibilities for growth and development if the community decides to educate and unite itself.

The Vadhiyari Bajaniya is a timid community that stays away from confrontations. During the initial days of  establishing contacts with the nomadic communities, the leaders of Bajaniya community would tell me, “Ben, can you please bring our community to the administration’s official list of NT-DNT communities?”

Such requests surprised me because there is a vast population of  Bajaniya community in Vadhiyaar. They can make or break an election. Why did they come up with these requests, I had wondered?

It was much later that I learned that the government and administration were clueless about the existence of this community.

The relentless efforts by VSSM have united this community and made them aware of their challenges and rights.

The entire community has a very disappointing attitude towards education. I know of one Sombhai, a  lone teacher from the community; otherwise, there is barely anyone who has finished even primary education. 

The leaders from the community came to see me today with a fascinating request.

“We want to build a hostel for the children of our community. Can you help us with funds to buy the land and construct a hostel?” they requested.

We asked them to form a community association, and only when the association exists will we support them.

In fact, many children from Bajaniya community study at VSSM’s hostel at Mansa. But the community wants a more extensive residential facility to be able to accommodate and provide education opportunities to more children.

We will ensure that our combined efforts help bring the dream of this community to life. 

We appreciate the willingness of the community to unite on the pressing issue of education backwardness amidst their community. 

એક સમાજ જ્યારે શિક્ષીત અને સંગઠીત થવાનું નક્કી કરે ત્યારે તેની પ્રગતિ થવાનું નક્કી થઈ જાય. વાત છે વઢિયારી બજાણિયાની બહુ ગભરુ લોકો. કોઈની સાથે માથાકૂટમાં ન પડે.એક વખતો હતો જ્યારે હું તેમના આગેવાનો સાથે એમના વિસ્તારમાં ફરી રહી હતી. તે વેળા એ લોકોના મોંઢે એક વાત વારંવાર સંભળાતી,'બેન અમાર બજોણિયાનું તમે એક ફેરા નામ બારુ પાડી દ્યો..'

આ સાંભળી નવાઈ લાગતી. વારંવાર નામ બાર પાડવાની વાત આ લોકો કેમ કરે. વઢિયારમાં તેમની વસતી ઘણી મોટી. કોઈની પણ હાર જીતમાં એ ફેર પાડી શકે. છતાં તેમને તેમનું નામ કેમ બહાર પાડવું હતું? 

પછી સમજાયું તેમના અસ્તિત્વની જાણે કોઈએ નોંધ જ નહોતી લીધી.VSSM ના સતત પ્રયત્નોથી આ સમુદાય સંગઠિત થયો ને આજે તેમના પ્રશ્નો બાબતે જાગૃત પણ થયો. 

પણ આખો સમાજ શિક્ષણની બાબતમાં ઘણો પાછળ. સોમભાઈ બજાણિયા જેમને હું જાણું તે એક શિક્ષક, એ સિવાય કોઈ હશે તો એ પણ આંગળીના વેઢે ગણાય એટલા. બાકી કોઈ નહીં.

 આ સમાજના આગેવાનો આજે ઓફીસ પર ખાસ મળવા આવ્યા. વળી કારણ મજાનું. 

અમારા સમાજના બાળકો ભણી શકે તે માટે હોસ્ટેલ બાંધવી છે. જમીન ખરીદી મકાન ઊભુ કરવામાં તમે સહયોગ કરો...

એ પછી વાત થઈ સંગઠનની. જો સંગઠન થાય તો સહયોગ કરીશુંનું અમે કહ્યું ને એમણે એ માન્ય રાખ્યું.આમ તો અમારી માણસામાં આવેલી હોસ્ટેલમાં આ સમુદાયના બાળકો ભણે પણ એમની પોતાની અલાયદી હોસ્ટેલ થાય તો એ લોકો કહે, એમ વધારે બાળકો ભણવા આવી શકે..બસ સમાજ અને VSSM બેઉના પ્રયત્નોથી એમનું સ્વપ્ન સત્વરે પૂર્ણ થાય એવું કરીશું...પણ ગમ્યું તેઓ શિક્ષણ માટે સંગઠિત થયા તે... #MittalPatel #VSSM #Education #communityservice #strengthening

The road to development opens up when any community/society decides to unite and focus on their children's education.

The Patani community of Banaskantha understood the need to educate their children and decided to work collectively for the growth of their community. Education of the children of the communities we work with has been our greatest aspiration, always. At the same time, communities recognising and applauding the torch bearers within their community is also required. Unfortunately, the communities massively lag on both these aspects. In the future, I hope communities will organise felicitation programs to cheer their children.

Rahulbhai Patani is a young and enthusiastic worker of Patni community who has always been empathetic towards the needs of his community and other marginalised ones. He has also been at the forefront of volunteering for VSSM whenever required. Rahulbhai has formed Patni Yuva Samajsewa Trust under his leadership. The collective is committed to working for the development of the Patni community.

Recently, the trust organised a felicitation program to applaud outstanding children studying from 1st until graduation and in various vocational courses. The objective was to motivate them and inspire others. The entire auditorium of Palanpur Mahanagarpalika was packed to the brim, with people seated outside the hall.

I was given the opportunity to address the audience and assure them VSSM's support whenever required.

We wish Rahulbbhai and his team all the best in their future endeavours.

કોઈ પણ સમાજ શિક્ષીત અને સંગઠિત થવાનું નક્કી કરી લે પછી એની પ્રગતિ કોઈ રોકી નથી શકતું.

બનાસકાંઠામાં રહેતા પટણી સમાજમાં સંગઠીત અને શિક્ષિત થવાની તાલાવેલી જોવા મળી. આમ તો મારી વર્ષોથી ઈચ્છા કે વિચરતી જાતિઓમાં આવતા દરેક સમુદાય પોતાના બાળકોના શિક્ષણને લઈને ચિંતત બને, તેજસ્વી તારલાઓનું સન્માન કરે.. પણ બધા સમુદાયમાં હજુ આ શરૃઆત નથી થઈ એ દુઃખદ પણ આશા છે આવનારા વખતમાં આવા સત્કાર સમારોહનું આયોજન થશે.

રાહુલભાઈ પટણી યુવા અને ઉત્સાહી કાર્યકર. પોતાના સમાજની સાથે સાથે એ અન્ય વંચિત સમાજની પણ ચિંતા કરે. અમારા કાર્યોમાં મદદ માટે તો એ સદાય તૈયાર. એમના નેજા હેઠળ એમણે પટણી યુવા સમાજ સેવા ટ્રસ્ટ ઊભુ કર્યું ને પોતાના સમાજના યુવાનોને સમાજના વિકાસ માટે કટીબદ્ધ કર્યા.

આ ટ્રસ્ટ થકી ધો. 1 થી લઈને કોલેજ ભણતા તેમજ વિવિધ વ્યવસાયલક્ષી કોર્સ કરનાર અને તેમાં ઉત્કૃષ્ઠ પ્રદર્શન કરનાર વિદ્યાર્થીઓને સત્કારવારનો કાર્યક્રમ આયોજીત કર્યો. રાહુલભાઈ અને એમની ટીમની જબરી મહેનત પાલનપુર નગરપાલિકાનો આખો હોલ ચિક્કાર ભરાઈ ગયેલો ને હોલ બહાર પણ લોકો બેઠેલા..

 "You wake up our girls at 4 in the morning; you don't even allow them a goodnight's sleep. So we do not wish to send them to the hostel anymore."

"You are right, but we wake them early to study, to give them a brighter future. Isn't that ok?"

"Whatever, but this doesn't seem right."

"The parents of girls studying para-medical nursing courses while completing their 12th grade came to us with this complaint."

They have all the reasons to be upset because the regime these girls follow is very tight. The extra coaching they need to cope with their studies requires them to wake up at 4 am. They study till 6.30 am, after which they finish the morning rituals and prepare to leave for Shalby Hospital at 8 am, where they attend the theory and practical classes for their para medical nursing course from 9 am to 6 pm. Once they return to the hostel at 7 pm, they have dinner- freshen up and study until 10 p. The Sundays too are spent studying for the course. 

The recently announced results of 12th-grade were a reflection of the rigorous efforts. 23 of the 25 students who appeared have cleared the exams with good grades. 2 of them have failed but will be taking a retest. 

As usual, the parents felt the pressure of the children's intensive schedule, but the girls were more than happy with their studies. Two girls aspire to join BSc nursing, and 10 want to enrol for General Nursing (GNM). Both of these are three years programs. These courses can promote them to the position of the head nurse. Some girls also wish to join BSc IT.

The seven students who have already completed their Nursing Diploma have found jobs at various hospitals with a starting salary of Rs. 14,400. 

The role of Vandanaben Nayak, who took a daily coaching class at 4 in the morning, is significant to these students' success. The incredibly selfless and devoted, Vandanaben has been tutoring our children for the last seven years. Likewise, our Bal Dost Jay also ensures that the children put in the effort required to complete this course successfully. And the result of both these hard-working individuals is seen in the results of our children.

Dimpleben Parikh, our senior team member who steers the education initiative, has played a vital role in ensuring the children at our hostels receive uninterrupted education and enrol in aptitude and market-appropriate vocational courses. And her efforts are matched by our education team members Vanita, Bijol, Pravin, Kokila and Vijay.

Educating the children from various nomadic communities has not been an easy ride for us; these sunny moments usher memories of the days when parents refused to send the children to the hostel, our attempts to deal with parents who did not prioritize the education of their children, who did not dream of their better future and how we had to counsel, threaten use force to bring the children to the hostels. Thankfully, now these are all matters of the past.

The children of these communities are also not inclined towards learning; they are not habituated to remaining stationed at one place and putting in focused efforts. But the continuous mentoring and nurturing (at times it may seem harsh) has enabled these children to reach an unheard-of and unimagined stage until 5-6 years ago. Therefore, I am sure these children will herald a better future for their community's other children.

We are grateful to the sponsors and donors who have helped us bring education to the threshold of these extremely impoverished families/children; because of you, we do not need to worry about the finances and concentrate our efforts on educating these children.

We will always look forward to your help and support. 

An 18-year-old, living in a hut and earning Rs. 14,400 indeed is a huge milestone for all of us. We wish all these children a better and brighter future.

તમે અમારી દીકરીઓને સવારે ચાર વાગે ઊઠાડી દો છો.. સરખી રીતે સુવા પણ દેતા નથી.. 

અમારે હવે એમને હોસ્ટેમાં ભણવા નથી મોકલવી.  

વાત સાચી પણ  એને  4વાગે કામ કરવા ઊઠાડીએ છીએ.. 

એ ભણે એનું ભવિષ્ય ઊજ્જળ બને તે માટે ઉઠાડીએ છીએ ને?એ જે હોય તે પણ આવું તે કાંઈ હોય?આવી નારાજગી અમારા ત્યાં પેરા મેડીકલ નર્સીગનો કોર્સ કરવાની સાથે ધો. 12  ભણતા દીકરા દીકરીઓના વાલીઓની. 

એક રીતે  તેમની નારાજગી પણ વ્યાજબી.  સવારે 4 વાગે તેમના ટયુશન ચાલુ થઈ જાય. એ માટે એમને થોડું વહેલાં ઉઠવાનું. સાડા છ સુધી ભણવાનું  ચાલે.પછી  નાહવા ધોવાનું  અને દૂધ નાસ્તો. એ પતે કે 8  વાગે નર્સીગના કોર્સ માટે હોસ્ટેલ છોડી શેલ્બી હોસ્પીટલ આવવાનું.  9 વાગ્યાથી એ  ભણવાનું ચાલુ થાય.ત્યાં થીયરીની સાથે પ્રેકટીકલ પણ ચાલે અને સાંજના 6 વાગે એ છૂટે. એ પછી હોસ્ટેલ પર પહોંચી જમીને પાછા ટ્યુશન  પર લાગે તે રાતના 10 વાગ્યા સુધી.. રવિવારે રજાના દિવસે સતત વાંચવાનું..

આ  સખત મહેનત સાથે 25 બાળકોએ ધો.12ની પરીક્ષા આપી. તેમાંથી  23 બાળકો પાસ થયા એ પણ સારા માર્કસ સાથે. જ્યારે બે બાળકો એક વિષયમાં ફેઈલ થયા. એ પણ ફરી પરીક્ષા  આપી પાસ થઈ જશે.

જોકે વાલીઓને આ પ્રેશર  લાગતું પણ બાળકો તો હોંશે હોંશે ભણતા.એ ભણવાના ભાગ  રૃપે હવે ધો. 12 પાસ થયેલામાંથી બે બાળકો Bsc નર્સીગમાં તેમજ 10 બાળકો જનરલ નર્સીગ (GNM)નો ત્રણ વર્ષનો  કોર્સ  કરવાની ખેવના રાખી... આ કોર્સ પછી  હેડ નર્સ બનીશકે. આ સિવાય Bsc IT માં કેટલાક બાળકો જશે.  આ સિવાય ડિપ્લોમા નર્સીગનો કોર્સ કરી રહેલા 7 બાળકોને જુદી જુદી હોસ્પીટલમાં નોકરી પણ મળી ગઈ એ પણ શરૃઆતી પગાર 14,400 થી. 

આ બાળકો આ પરિણામ સુધીૂ પહોંચ્યા એમાં  સૌથી મોટો ફાળો એમને  સવારે 4 વાગે ટ્યુશન કરાવતા વંદનાબેન નાયકનો. નિસ્વાર્થ પણે છેલ્લા સાત વર્ષથી એ અમારા  આ બાળકોને ભણાવવાનું  એ કરે.  જય  અમારો  બાલદોસ્ત  જે રાતના મોડે સુધી બાળકોને ભણાવવાનું કરે. આ બેઉની સખત મહેનતના પરિણામે બાળકો આ સ્તરે પહોંચ્યા. 

જો કે આ સ્તરે પહોંચાડવા અમારા ડીમ્પલબેન પરીખનો ફાળો મોટો. એ વંદના બહેન, જય સાથે સતત ફોલોઅપમાં. બાળકો ધો. 12 પાસ કરીને આગળ શું ભણશે તે માટે સતત તેમની સાથે વાત કરવાનું એ કરે.. અમારી વનીતા, બીજોલ, પ્રવીણ, કોકીલા અને વીજયનો ફાળો પણ વિશેષ. 

વિચરતી જાતિના બાળકોને જ્યારે પહેલીવાર અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણવા લાવવાનો વિચાર કર્યો એ દિવસો યાદ આવે છે. વાલીઓ બાળકો માટે સ્વપ્ન ન જુએ ભણીને વળી એ શું કરવાનો. બેન નાહક માથાકૂટ કરો રહેવા દો ને.. એના કરતા એ ચાદરો વેચશે,  છરી ચપ્પુની ધાર કાઢશે ટૂંકમાં અમારા પરંપરાગત ધંધા છે એ કરશે.. ત્યારે જબરજસ્તીથી બાળકોને ઉપાડી લાવતા. ક્યારેક ધમકી આપીને લઈ આવતા..

વળી ભણવામાં મોટાભાગના બાળકો સાવ નબળા આવામાં એમની ઉપર કડક પણ થવું પડ્યું હશે પણ એ કડકાઈના લીધે જ આ બાળકો અહીંયા સુધી પહોંચ્યા..જે બાળકો નોકરીએ લાગ્યા તેમને જોઈને આ સમાજના અન્ય બાળકો પણ ભણવા આવશે.. 

અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણતા 450 બાળકોના ભણતરમાં મદદ કરતા સૌ સ્વજનોના અમે આભારી છીએ. તમે મદદ કરી એટલે આ બાળકો નિરાંતે ભણી શક્યા. બાકી વાલી તો એક રૃપિયો પણ બાળકોના ભણતર માટે ખર્ચી શકે તેવી ક્ષમતા નહીં..અમારા આ કાર્યમાં આપ સૌની મદદ હંમેશાં આવકાર્ય.... ઝૂંપડામાં રહેનાર બાળક 14,400 18 વર્ષની ઉમેરે કમાતા થાય એ બહુ મોટી વાત.. બધા જ બાળકને ખુબ તરક્કી કરોની શુભભાવના...

“Didi, I  dream of taking my father to a car showroom and buying him a car he desires. Everyone in my village made fun of my dad and me when he decided to enrol me to this hostel. We are Nat, but my father works as a mason. He does not practice our traditional occupation. Everyone would tell me that I, too, am destined to be a mason, not an official. My father aspired to study, but we belong to a community where child marriages are rampant. My parents were also married as kids; hence my father had to forego his dream of studying all the way. When I arrived here, he asked me to study hard; he was prepared to work hard to help me study as much as I wished to. I am here because of my father. I want to make my father’s life better. I want to shut those mouths.”

Deepak is a class 12 student; along with finishing his schooling, he is also attending Para Medical and Nursing course. He aspires to complete his education and do a GNM course. “I want to get a good job and place my first salary in my father’s hands,” wishes Deepak.

“Didi, I could study because of this hostel. Numerous people would have helped so that all of us could attend school. When I begin earning, I  wish to give forward 5% of my earnings for the good of others. I will give it to you.” Such sensitivity deserves salutations.

Four hundred children from various nomadic and marginalised communities stay at VSSM operated hostels and attend mainstream schools in Ahmedabad. You may consider contributing for their future. VSSM is also setting up Vallabh Vidya Vihar, an all-inclusive educational facility near Gandhinagar’s  Pansar. The academic enclave will have the capacity to house and educate 1000 students.

'દીદી મારા પપ્પાને ગાડીઓના શો રૃમમાં લઈ જવાનું ને એ જે ગાડી પર હાથ મુકે એ ગાડી લઈ આપવાનું મારુ સ્વપ્ન છે. મને જ્યારે આપણી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણવા મુક્યો ત્યારે ગામમાં બધા મારા પપ્પાની ને મારી મજાક કરતા. અમે નટ પણ મારા પપ્પા ગાવા વગાડવાનું ન કરે એ કડિયા કામ કરે. તે બધા કહે, કડિયાનો છોકરો મોટો થઈને તગારાં  જ ઉચકે એ સાહેબ થોડો થાય? મારા પપ્પાને પણ ભણવાનું મન હતું પણ અમારામાં નાનપણમાં લગ્ન થઈ જાય તે એમના લગ્ન પણ થઈ ગયા ને એ ભણી ન શક્યા. મને જ્યારે ભણવા મુક્યો ત્યારે એમણે મને આ કહેલું ને તુ ખુબ મહેનત કરજે, તારે જેટલું ભણવું હોય એટલું હું ભણાવીશ એવું એમણે કહેલું.... તે દીદી મારા પપ્પાના લીધે જ હું અહીંયા છું. મારે એમના માટે ઘણું કરવું છે. જે લોકો એમને ટોણા મારે એમની બોલતી બંધ કરવી છે...'

અમારો દીપક આમ ધો.12માં ભણે ને સાથે પેરા મેડીકલ નર્સીંગનો  કોર્સ પણ કરે. એની ઈચ્છા 12 પાસ કરીને GNM કરવાની. સારી નોકરી લઈને પપ્પાના હાથમાં પહેલો પગાર આપવાની દીપકની ઈચ્છા..

 એ કહી, 'દીદી આપણી હોસ્ટેલમાં રહીને હું ભણ્યો. મને ભણાવવા કેટલા લોકોએ મદદ કરી તે હું જ્યારે કમાતો થાઉ ત્યારે મારી કમાણીનો પાંચ ટકા હિસ્સો હું પરમાર્થના કામમાં વાપરીશ.. તમને આપીશ'

દિપકની આ ભાવનાને પ્રણામ કરવા ઘટે.

અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં વિચરતી જાતિના વંચિત પરિવારોના 400 ઉપરાંત બાળકો ભણે. 

આ બાળકોના ભણતરમાં તમે મદદરૃપ થઈ શકો.

Mittal Patel meets Meera and Chetan

Meera and Chetan are residents of Surendranagar’s Dudhrej, a town that has large settlements nomadic and de-notified communities. Most children of these communities do not go to school, reason being the highway that passes from between the school and settlement. There is a looming fear of accidents while crossing the highway. The parents resent sending their children to school. VSSM had appealed to the concerned authorities for sanctioning a school at the settlement.  Our team member, Harshadbhai remained persistent in following up the appeal. Consequently, we had school at up till 8th grade at the settlement.

When at the settlement recently, I happen to meet Meera and Chetan.  I am very fond of Madhu, Meera’s mother. Chetan’s father Kishanbhai is an expert flute player. He too is dear to us. We never had to tell these parents to educate their children.

“Didi, we have finished studies upto 8th grade, we do not have a high school here. I want to study further, take me with you please!” Chetan tells me. Meera too joins in. I have decided to bring both of them to our hostel in June 2022.

It has been our dream to help children like Meera and Chetan realise their dream. Our very dear and respected Shri Chandrakant Gogri has given us land In Pansar near Gandhinagar to build an institute to educate 1000 such children. Very soon we shall be commencing the construction of Vallabh Vidya Vihar, an all-inclusive enclave for educational and vocational training of children from marginalised communities of Gujarat.  It will help us live our pledge of providing life skills and raise responsible citizens of tomorrow.

મીરા અને ચેતન સુરેન્દ્રનગરના દૂધરેજમાં રહે. 

દૂધરેજમાં વિચરતી જાતિઓની વસતિ ઘણી. બાળકોય ઘણા પણ નિશાળમાં જવાનું ખાસ કરે નહીં. મૂળ ગામની નિશાળ ને વસાહતની વચમાં ધ્રાંગધ્રા હાઈવે આવે. તે મા-બાપને અકસ્માતનો ભય લાગ્યા કરે. 

અમે આ પરિવારો જ્યાં રહેતા ત્યાં જ નિશાળ બનાવી આપવા સરકારમાં રજૂઆત કરી. અમારો હર્ષદ એ માટે સતત મથે. આખરે નિશાળ થઈ. ધો.8 સુધી બાળકો ત્યાં ભણે..

હમણાં વસાહતમાં જવાનું થયું તે વેળા મીરા અને ચેતન મળ્યા. મીરાની મા મધુ મને પ્રિય ને ચેતનનો બાપ કિશન અચ્છો વાંસળી કલાકાર. એય પ્રિય. બાળકોને ભણાવજો એવું અમારે આ બેયના મા-બાપને કહેવું ન પડે.

ચેતને કહ્યું, દીદી આઠ ધો. પાસ થઈ ગયો હવે અહીંયા નિશાળ નથી મને તમારી સાથે આવવું છે તો મીરાએ પણ કહ્યું, મને પણ લઈ જાવ ને...

જૂન 2022માં બેઉને અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં લઈ આવવાનું નક્કી....

ગાંધીનગર પાસેના પાનસરમાં આવા 1000 થી વધુ બાળકોને રાખીને ભણાવી શકાય તે માટે અમારા ખુબ જ આદરણીય અને પ્રિય ચંદ્રકાન્તભાઈ ગોગરીએ જમીન લઈ આપી છે. આવનારા દિવસોમાં ત્યાં વલ્લભ વિદ્યા વિહાર ઊભુ થશે જ્યાં બાળકો વિવિધ વ્યવસાયલક્ષી તાલીમ સાથે શિક્ષણ મેળવશે ને દેશના અચ્છા નાગરિક બનશે... 

જીવનલક્ષી શિક્ષણ આપવાની અમારી નેમ...

"Didi, I have passed with 87% marks!" Sapna shared as she entered my office. Small-boned Sapna has big dreams and she has been an inspiring change within her community.

Sapna hails from Amirgadh, her mother is a domestic helper. Sapna aspired to be an IT Engineer, but it was beyond the means of her menial wage-earning mother to fulfil Sapna’s dreams. Fate brought her to our hostel, from where she went on the join Ganapat University's IT Engineering Diploma Program. The initial months were challenging as she could not comprehend English and blending with peers conversing in English was difficult. However, the continuous support and mentoring by Dimpleben and VSSM’s education team members Vanita, Bijol, Vijay, Kokila helped boost Sapna’s confidence to blend into the new learning space. 

A little while ago, Sapna brought her aunt’s daughters to meet us. “Didi, they also want to study,” she shared. Sapna’s words were music to my ears and the fact that she inspired this change in mindset made our efforts worthwhile. Sapna also wants to continue studying for a degree once she has finished her Diploma studies. We are thrilled at the fact that Sapna has bigger dreams.

The efforts Dimpleben, Vanita, Bijol, Vijay, Jay, Kokila and others pour into these children helps them embark upon a brighter future. And we are grateful to all of you for fuelling these massive efforts to help us educate first-generation learners.

સપનાં ઝીણકી એવી.. ઓફીસ પર આવી અને કહ્યું દીદી મારે 87% આવ્યા.

સપના અમીરગઢની. એની મમ્મી ઘરકામ કરે. 

સપનાની ઈચ્છા IT એન્જીનીયર બનવાની. પણ ઘરકામ કરતી મા માટે સપનાનું આ સ્વપ્ન પૂર્ણ કરવું મુશ્કેલ?

અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં એ ભણે. 10 પાસ કર્યું ને ગણપત યુનીવર્સીટીમાં અમે એને આઈટી એન્જીનીયરીંગ ભણવા મુકી.

શરૃઆતમાં તો અગ્રેજી ન ફાવે. અન્ય બાળકો સાથે તાલમેલ કરવો પણ અઘરો પડે. પણ અમારા ડિમ્પલબેન અને VSSMની શિક્ષણનું કાર્ય જોતી અમારી ટીમ વનિતા, બીજોલ, વિજય, કોકીલા વગેરે એને સતત સમજાવતા રહ્યા છેવટે સપનાં ગોઠવાઈ ગઈ.

થોડા સમય પહેલાં સપનાં એના માસી અને એમની દિકરીઓને લઈને હોસ્ટેલ પર આવી. દીદી આ લોકોને પણ ભણવું છે... સાંભળી રાજી થવાયું. એ ભણી એને જોઈને બીજાને પ્રેરણા મળી..

એને ડીપ્લોમા પત્યા પછી ડીગ્રી કરવું છે.. સપનાં સ્વપ્ન જોતી થઈ એનો રાજીપો...

ડીમ્પલબેન, વનિતા, બીજોલ, વિજય, જય, કોકીલા વગેરે સૌ કાર્યકરોની મહેનતથી આવા ઘણા બાળકો ઉજ્જવળ ભવિષ્ય તરફ પગરણ માંડશે...
