 “Discipline, punctuality, and sportsmanship—these are three lessons that no textbook can teach, but the playing field does.”

For the overall development of more than 500 students studying at Vallabh Vidya Vihar, classroom education alone is not enough. Our goal is to build strong teamwork among children and help them learn to take leadership roles in managing the school campus as well.

Therefore, along with leadership training, we organized a grand sports festival to teach life lessons through physical effort and on-field experience.

The most attractive part of this sports festival was the games for younger children. When games like lemon-and-spoon, sack race, flour blowing, and musical chairs began on the field, the atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy.

Sack Race: As children jumped with their legs inside sacks and fell on the field, their determination to get up again and keep running—without fear of losing—was truly admirable.

Flour Blowing: This game created a lot of fun! Seeing children’s faces covered in flour in their excitement to find chocolates made everyone burst into laughter.

Musical Chairs: In the rush to grab a chair to the rhythm of the music, children learned lessons of alertness and time awareness.

Enthusiasm of Young Athletes: Kabaddi and Cricket

For the older students, their favorite game, kabaddi, was organized. In their efforts to help one another and lead their team to victory, true teamwork was clearly visible.

In addition, children participated with great enthusiasm in games like shot put and cricket. In cricket, students from 8th and 9th grades defeated older students. They repeatedly said that despite being younger, they won because of excellent teamwork. Listening to them made us feel that our goal of teaching strong teamwork had truly been achieved.

This sports festival, which began early in the morning, was strongly supported by the VSSM and KRSF teams. In encouraging the children and ensuring fair management of the entire competition, Jayantibhai, Bijolbhai, Nikulbhai, Ilaben, Kiranbhai, Vandanaben, Ghanshyambhai, Prakashbhai, Kokilaben, Surekhaben, Tejalben, Nagjibhai, Chaturbhai, Mohanbhai, Mukeshbhai, and many others remained actively involved throughout.

Our effort was to ensure that every child participated in the competition. By playing, children learn to accept defeat and develop sportsmanship. A child who learns to accept defeat on the field and stand up again cannot be defeated by any force in the world.

Today, on the grounds of Vallabh Vidya Vihar – Pansar, it truly felt as though responsible and disciplined citizens of the future were being shaped through sports.

"શિસ્ત, સમયપાલન અને ખેલદિલી – આ ત્રણ પાઠ જે કોઈ પાઠ્યપુસ્તક નથી શીખવી શકતું, તે રમતનું મેદાન શીખવે છે."

વલ્લભ વિદ્યા વિહારમાં અભ્યાસ કરતા ૫૦૦થી વધુ બાળકોના સર્વાંગી વિકાસ માટે માત્ર વર્ગખંડનું શિક્ષણ પૂરતું નથી. અમારો લક્ષ્ય બાળકોમાં મજબૂત 'ટીમ વર્ક' ઉભું થાય અને તેઓ શિક્ષણ સંકુલના સંચાલનમાં પણ આગેવાની લેતા શીખે તે.

એટલે અમે બાળકોને લીડરશિપની તાલીમની સાથે સાથે મેદાન પર પરસેવો પાડીને જીવનના પાઠ શીખવવા માટે 'ભવ્ય રમતોત્સવ' નું આયોજન કર્યું.

આ રમતોત્સવનું સૌથી આકર્ષક પાસું નાના બાળકોની રમતો હતી. મેદાનમાં જ્યારે લીંબુ-ચમચી, કોથળાદોડ, લોટ ફૂંકણી અને સંગીત ખુરશી જેવી રમતો શરૂ થઈ ત્યારે વાતાવરણ હાસ્ય અને આનંદથી ભરાઈ ગયું હતું.

કોથળાદોડ: કોથળામાં પગ ભરાવીને કૂદકા મારતા બાળકો જ્યારે મેદાનમાં પડતા, ત્યારે હારના ડર વગર ફરી ઊભા થઈને દોડવાની તેમની જિજીવિષા જોવા જેવી હતી.

લોટ ફૂંકણી: આ રમતમાં તો ભારે રમુજ થઈ! ચોકલેટ શોધવાની લ્હાયમાં બાળકોના મોંઢા લોટથી ખરડાયેલા જોઈને સૌ કોઈ ખડખડાટ હસી પડ્યા હતા.

સંગીત ખુરશી: મ્યુઝિકના તાલે એક ખુરશી માટેની એ દોડધામમાં બાળકોએ સમયસૂચકતાના પાઠ શીખ્યા.

યુવા ખેલાડીઓનો જોશ: કબડ્ડી અને ક્રિકેટ

મોટા બાળકો માટે તેમની મનપસંદ રમત કબડ્ડીનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું. એકબીજાનો સાથ આપીને ટીમને જીતાડવાની એ મથામણમાં સાચું ટીમવર્ક જોવા મળ્યું.

આ ઉપરાંત ગોળાફેંક અને ક્રિકેટ જેવી રમતોમાં પણ બાળકોએ પૂરા ઉત્સાહથી ભાગ લીધો હતો. ક્રિકેટની ટીમમાં તો આઠમુ, નવમુ ધોરણ ભણતા બાળકોએ એમનાથી મોટી ઉંમરના બાળકોને હરાવ્યા. અમે નાના તોય મોટાઓને અમે ટીમવર્ક સરસ કર્યું એટલે હરાવી શક્યા એવું વારંવાર એમણે કહ્યું.. એમની વાતો સાંભળી અમારી આ ટુલ્લડ મજબૂત ટીમવર્ક શીખી ગયાનું લાગ્યું.

સવારથી જ શરૂ થયેલા આ રમતોત્સવમાં VSSM અને KRSF ટીમની ભૂમિકા પાયાની રહી. બાળકોને પ્રોત્સાહિત કરવામાં અને સમગ્ર સ્પર્ધાનું નિષ્પક્ષ સંચાલન કરવામાં જયંતીભાઈ, બીજોલભાઈ, નીકુલભાઈ, ઈલાબહેન, કિરણભાઈ, વંદનાબહેન, ઘનશ્યામભાઈ, પ્રકાશભાઈ, કોકિલાબેન, સુરેખાબેન, તેજલબેન, નાગજીભાઈ, ચતુરભાઈ, મોહનભાઈ અને મુકેશભાઈ વગેરે સૌ ખડેપગે રહ્યા.

અમારો પ્રયાસ દરેક બાળક સ્પર્ધામાં ભાગ લે તેવો.  રમતા થશે તો હારને પચાવતા શીખશે અને ખેલદિલી કેળવાશે. જે બાળક મેદાન પર હાર પચાવીને ફરી બેઠું થતા શીખી જાય એને દુનિયાની કોઈ તાકાત હરાવી શકતી નથી.

વલ્લભ વિદ્યા વિહાર - પાનસરના આંગણે આજે રમતગમત દ્વારા ભવિષ્યના જવાબદાર અને શિસ્તબદ્ધ નાગરિકો ઘડાયા હોય તેવો અહેસાસ થયો.

Our girls at the hostel have studied well and are now pursuing nursing. Some of them will become pillars of their families in a year or two.

It fills us with joy to play a role in guiding their lives in the right direction.

શિક્ષણ આપવાથી એક વ્યક્તિનું ભલું નથી થતું પણ આખી પેઢી તરી જાય છે..

આ અમારી બચુડિયો અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણી.. હવે નર્સિંગમાં ભણે. કોઈ એક તો કોઈ બે વર્ષમાં પગભર થશે.. 

રાજીપો એમના જીવનને એક દિશામાં લઈ જવામાં નિમિત્ત બનવાનો.

From Hostel Grounds to Champions: Our Kabaddi Stars

“Didi, if you play for four hours, we can do it too. We don’t feel tired.”

“Then where do you feel tired?”

This was the reply I received from some of the children living in our hostel who are the powerhouses of sports. They had just won first place in kabaddi at the Taluka-level Khel Mahakumbh and said this with a smile.

Kabaddi is a sport the children at our hostel play passionately. Gradually, our sports teacher, Rakesh, trained the best players into a strong team and started participating in various competitions. Some of these children have even reached the district and state levels.

After the Diwali vacation, our kabaddi team reached the Taluka-level Khel Mahakumbh. Although they had just returned to the hostel, the next day was the competition. They hadn’t practiced yet and had to step directly onto the field. That night, they practiced until 11:30 PM and, the next day, competed against five other school teams—and they won!

The team that came first at the Taluka level will now represent the district.

At VSSM-run Vallabh Vidya Vihar in Pansar, 507 children are currently studying. After Diwali, around 40 more children will join. In Kakar, Banaskantha, 110 children are studying. In total, we are educating over 600 children. Some of these children are already starting to shine, and that fills us with pride.

We are deeply grateful for the support of the Dr. K.R. Shroff Foundation, Aarti Foundation, and many other well-wishers, who have played a big role in this work.

 "દીદી રમવાનું તમે ચાર કલાક ક્યો તો અમે કરી લઈએ. અમને એમાં થાક નો લાગે.."

 "તો થાક શેમાં લાગ?"

મારા પ્રશ્નનો જવાબ મારી સામે ઊભેલા અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં રહેતા બાળકોમાંથી રમતગમતમાં જેઓ પાવરધા છે. જેઓ તાલુકા કક્ષાએ આયોજિત ખેલ મહાકુંભમાં કબડ્ડીમાં મેદાન મારીને એટલે કે પ્રથમ આવ્યા હતા એમણે સ્મીત સાથે આપ્યો.કબડ્ડી અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણતા બાળકો ખૂબ રમે. ધીમે ધીમે એમાંથી એક મજબૂત ટીમ અમારા રમતગમતના શિક્ષક રાકેશે તૈયાર કરી ને એને વિવિધ સ્પર્ધાઓમાં ભાગ લેવડાવવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. જિલ્લા અને રાજ્ય સ્તર સુધી ટીમમાંથી કેટલાક બાળકો પહોંચ્યા.

દિવાળી વેકેશન પછી તાલુકા ખેલ મહાકુંભમાં અમારી કબડ્ડીની ટીમ પહોંચી. આમ તો વેકેશન પછી હોસ્ટેલમાં આવે એક જ દિવસ થયો હતો. બીજા દિવસે રમવા જવાનું હતું. પ્રેક્ટીશ થઈ નહોતી. સવારે સીધા મેદાનમાં ઉતરવાનું હતું.તે રાત્રના સાડા અગિયાર વાગ્યા સુધી સૌએ પ્રેકટીસ કરી ને બીજા દિવસે પાંચ શાળાની ટીમ સાથે એમની સ્પર્ધા થઈને એમાં એમણે મેદાન માર્યું.

તાલુકા કક્ષાએ પ્રથમ આવેલી ટીમ હવે જિલ્લામાં રમવા જશે..

VSSM સંચાલિત વલ્લભ વિદ્યા વિહાર- પાનસરમાં 507 બાળકો ભણે. દિવાળી પછી બીજા 40 જેટલા બાળકો ભણવા આવશે. બનાસકાંઠાના કાકરમાં 110 બાળકો ભણે આમ 600 ઉપરાંત બાળકોને શિક્ષણ આપવામાં અમે નિમિત્ત બની રહ્યા છીએ. આ બાળકોમાંથી કેટલાક આમ ઝળકવા માંડ્યા છે એનો રાજીપો. ને આ કાર્યમાં ડો. કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશન, આરતી ફાઉન્ડેશન ને અન્ય સ્વજનોનો સહયોગ ઘણો મોટો. એમના અમે આભારી છીએ.

When Drishti first came to the VSSM-run hostel, she was very young. At that time, it seemed that perhaps she wouldn’t continue her studies beyond the 10th grade. But she stayed determined, worked hard, passed the 12th standard, and gained admission into a nursing course.

While studying nursing, she started her duties at the hospital, attending to patients. She was assigned to the children’s ward. She says, “When I hold a small child in my hands, the feeling is so profound that it’s difficult to put into words.” ❤️

In the community Drishti comes from, very few girls get the opportunity to study. Many girls she studied alongside have now become mothers. But Drishti got a chance, received trust, and that changed her life.

Many girls like Drishti study in our hostel. After the 12th standard, we enroll them in various technical courses so that they can become independent and ease the struggles of their families. At Goraj Muni Sevashram, many of our hostel students are pursuing nursing.

Sometimes, if a child feels discouraged or faces difficulties, we must run to them, place a hand on their shoulder, and explain: “Success in life doesn’t come without struggle. Accept the struggle.” We continue to motivate them enthusiastically so they regain confidence and progress in their studies.

Rekha, Pinkal, Neeta… all of them were very young when they first came to the hostel. Today, they are filled with confidence—some aspire to master nursing, while others are ready to go abroad for further studies.

In their eyes, there are dreams; in their hearts, curiosity; and in their minds, a single purpose—to learn and give back to society.

Hearing such words from them fills one with immense joy.

અમારી દૃષ્ટિ જ્યારે પહેલીવાર VSSM સંચાલિત હોસ્ટેલમાં આવી, ત્યારે એ બહુ નાની હતી. એ વખતે લાગ્યું કે કદાચ દસમા પછી એ આગળ નહીં ભણે. પણ એણે હિંમત રાખી, મહેનત કરી, બારમું ધોરણ પાસ કર્યું અને નર્સીંગના કોર્સમાં પ્રવેશ મેળવ્યો.

નર્સીંગ ભણતા ભણતા એ હોસ્પિટલમાં ડ્યુટી કરતી, દર્દીઓને તપાસતી. નાના બાળકોના વોર્ડમાં એની ડ્યુટી આવી. એ કહે — “જ્યારે નાનાં બાળકને હાથમાં લઉં છું, એ વખતે જે લાગણી થાય છે એ શબ્દોમાં કહેવી મુશ્કેલ છે.” ❤️

દૃષ્ટિ જે સમાજમાંથી આવે છે, ત્યાં દિકરીઓ બહુ ઓછું ભણે. એની સાથે ભણતી અનેક દિકરીઓ તો હવે બાળકોની મા બની ગઈ છે. પણ દૃષ્ટિને તક મળી, વિશ્વાસ મળ્યો, એટલે એની જિંદગી બદલાઈ.

અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં દૃષ્ટિ જેવી અનેક દિકરીઓ ભણે છે. અમે ધોરણ 12 પછી તેમને વિવિધ ટેકનિકલ કોર્સમાં દાખલ કરાવીએ છીએ — જેથી એ પગભર બને, પોતાનો અને પરિવારનો સંઘર્ષ હળવો કરે. ગોરજ મુની સેવાશ્રમમાં અમારા ત્યાં ભણતા અનેક બાળકો નર્સીંગ ભણી રહ્યા છે. આ બાળકોમાંથી ક્યારેક કોઈ બાળક નિરાશ થાય, મુશ્કેલી અનુભવે ત્યારે અમારે દોડવું પડે, એના ખભા પર હાથ રાખી સમજાવવું પડે કે — “સંઘર્ષ વગર જીવનમાં સફળતા નહીં મળે. માટે સંઘર્ષને સ્વીકારો.” ઉત્સાહભેર વાતો સતત કરીએ એનાથી પાછા એ પ્રોત્સાહીત થાય ને ભણતરમાં આગળ વધે. 

રેખા, પીંકલ, નીતા… આ બધા તો હોસ્ટેલમાં આવ્યા ત્યારે સાવ નાનાં હતા. આજે એ બધા આત્મવિશ્વાસથી ભરેલા  છે — કોઈ નર્સીંગમાં માસ્ટર કરવા ઈચ્છે છે, તો કોઈ વિદેશ જઈ વધુ ભણવા તૈયાર થયા છે.

એમની આંખોમાં સપના છે, હૃદયમાં જિજ્ઞાસા છે, ને મનમાં એક જ ભાવના ભણીને સમાજને પાછું આપવાની છે.

એમના મોંઢે આવી વાતો સાંભળીએ ત્યારે રાજી થવાય.

Empowering Marginalized Communities Through Education...

VSSM's Vallabh vidya vihar campus

“Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela’s words are absolutely true.

Today many deprived individuals received the opportunity to study and transformed their lives. But many people from the wandering and nomadic tribes are still deprived of this opportunity. We firmly believe that the entire society along with the government must work with love and responsibility for the welfare of these communities.

VSSM is making efforts so that the light of education spreads within these communities. We have established two hostels.

In Banaskantha’s Kakar, at the Shrimati Viraben Medhajibhai Shah (Chanderiya) Hostel, 110 children are currently studying. The hostel is still taking its early steps, but we hope that many students will study here and move ahead towards a bright future.

We have set up another institute, Vallabh Vidya Vihar, in Pansar, Gandhinagar. Two hostel blocks, a kitchen, and a dining hall have already been completed. The school building is yet to be constructed, and its work will begin soon. At present, more than 500 children study here.

It is equally necessary for the government to create special provisions—such as reservation and dedicated schemes—for the education and dignified employment of children belonging to these communities.

The fruits of independence have still not reached these communities living at the margins of society. Much work remains to be done, and for that, society must move forward along with the government.

Education is not merely academics—it is the power to transform lives. That is why we strive to make maximum efforts for the education of children from these communities.

“શિક્ષણ એ સૌથી શક્તિશાળી ઓજાર છે, જેનાથી તમે દુનિયા બદલી શકો છો.” – નેલ્સન મંડેલાનું આ વાક્ય એકદમ બરાબર. 

આજે અનેક વંચિત વ્યક્તિઓને ભણવાની તક મળી ને એમની જીંદગી બદલાઈ. પણ વિચરતી વિમુક્ત જાતિઓમાંના ઘણા હજુયે આ તકથી વંચિત. આ સમુદાયોના કલ્યાણ માટે પ્રેમથી આખા સમાજે સરકારે લાગવું જોઈએ એવું અમે દૃઢપણે માનીયે.

VSSM શિક્ષણરૂપી પ્રકાશ આ સમુદાયોમાં પથરાય એ માટે પ્રયત્નો કરે. અમે બે હોસ્ટેલ સ્થાપી. બનાસકાંઠાના કાકરમાં શ્રીમતી વીરાબહેન મેધજીભાઈ શાહ (ચંદેરિયા) છાત્રાલયમાં હાલ 110 બાળકો ભણે છે. આમ તો આ છાત્રાલય પાપા પગલી ભરી રહ્યું છે. પણ આશા છે અહીંયાથી અનેક બાળકો ભવિષ્યમાં ભણીને બહાર નીકળશે. 

આવું જ બીજુ વલ્લભ વિદ્યા વિહાર અમે ગાંધીનગરના પાનસરમાં સ્થાપ્યું. અહીંયા બે હોસ્ટેલ બ્લોક, રસોડુ, ડાયનીંગ હોલ તૈયાર થઈ ગયો છે. હજુ નિશાળ બનવાની બાકી. થોડા સમયમાં નિશાળનું બાંધકામ પણ શરૃ કરીશું. હાલ અહીંયા 500 ઉપરાંત બાળકો ભણે. સરકાર દ્વારા આ સમુદાયના બાળકોના ભણતર માટે તેમજ તેમના શિક્ષણ અને તેમને સ્વમાનભેર કામ મળે તે નોકરીઓમાં અનામત જેવી અલાયદી વ્યવસ્થાઓ થાય તે પણ એટલી જરૃરી. સમાજના છેવાડે વસતા આ સમુદાયો સુધી આઝાદીના ફળ પહોંચ્યા નથી.. ઘણું બધુ કરવાનું બાકી છે ને એ માટે સરકારની સાથે સાથે સમાજ પણ આગળ આવે તે ઈચ્છનીય..

શિક્ષણ માત્ર ભણતર નથી પણ તે જીવન બદલવાની શક્તિ છે. એટલે જ આ સમુદાયના બાળકોના ભણતર માટે મહત્તમ પ્રયત્નો કરવાનું કરીએ.

અમારા ભૂલકાઓ ક્યારે મોટા થઇ ગયા ખબર જ ના પડી!!! બસ, અત્યારે અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં રહીને ભણી રહેલા ૬૦૦ થી વધારે બાળકો પણ અલગ અલગ ફિલ્ડમાં માસ્ટર બને તે આ આંખોએ જોવાનું સપનું છે...

Our girls at vallabh vidya vihar sankul

I often sing this joyful rhyme: ( અમે નાના નાના બાળ અમે મોટા થાશું ને જગ દોરશું! ) 'We, small kids, will grow older and guide the world!'  whenever I see the school kids studying in our hostel. It expresses my feelings about how, when they grow up, they will contribute significantly to the development of the world.

These kids are full of excitement! Leela, Hetal, Gayatri, Gita, Jhanavi, Kartik, Vipul, and Tarun all came to the hostel to study when they were little. Even though they are still young, their dreams are immense!

Leela once told me, 'Didi, you dreamed of becoming an IAS officer. But then you got involved in welfare work for our community. I, however, will become an officer when I grow up.' This sentiment is shared by Gayatri, Hetal, Vipul, and all the others.

Hetal has been studying in the hostel since she was very young. She is quite stubborn, but she is also sensitive and emotional. Gita's mother harbors big dreams for her daughters. Living in a small hut, she felt that the best chance for her daughters to receive an excellent education was to send them to the hostel from a young age.

All of the children have now completed either Std. 10 or Std. 12, and they have big dreams. We are committed to supporting them in achieving those dreams.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the honorable Shri Chandrakantbhai Gogri and the Aarti Parivar for their immense help in establishing a hostel system that provides children with an excellent education. We are also thankful for the support of many well-wishers who contributed to the construction of the hostel.

We are especially grateful for the continuous support from Respected Shri Pratulbhai Shroff of the Dr. K R Shroff Foundation, who ensures that the children in the hostel receive the best education possible. He has provided teachers to educate these children and has also helped cover hostel costs. Without his assistance, operating the hostel would be impossible. Pratulbhai is always involved in the management of the hostel and has taken on the responsibility of supporting the children's education. I am truly thankful for his kind and affectionate support.

We would also like to acknowledge the hard work of all our hostel staff: Dimpleben, Vanita, Jayantibhai, Bijol, Kiran, Ghanshyam, Vandana, Kokila, Surekha, Milan, Thakarashibhai, Chaturbhai, Tejalben, and others.

Education is a light that guides individuals out of darkness. Our children envision bright and promising futures. We sincerely wish for their dreams to come true!

અમે નાના નાના બાળ અમે મોટા થાશું ને જગ દોરશું.

આ મજાનું બાળગીત, અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણતા બાળકોને જ્યારે જોવું ત્યારે ગાલું ને કાલ આ બધા મોટા થશે ને જગતના ઘડતરમાં પોતાનું ઉત્તમ આપશે એવો ભાવ વ્યક્ત કરુ.

આમ આ બધા છે પણ મજાના. અમારી લીલા, હેતલ, ગાયત્રી, ગીતા, જાનવી, કાર્તીક, વિપુલ, તરુણ તો બહુ નાના હતા ત્યારથી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણવા આવેલા. હતા બધા નાના પણ એમના સપનાઓ મોટા.

લીલા તો કહે,દીદી તમે IAS ઓફીસર બનવાનું સપનું સેવેલું પણ તમે અમારા સમુદાયના પરિચયમાં આવ્યા ને અમારા સમુદાયના કલ્યાણના કામોમાં લાગી ગયા તે હું મોટી થઈને અધિકારી બનીશ..

આવા જ સપના ગાયત્રી, હેતલ, વિપુલ સૌના.. હેતલ તો બહુ નાની હતી ત્યારથી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણે સખત જીદ્દી પણ લાગણીવાળી પણ ખરી. ગીતાની મમ્મીના સમણા મોટા. એ ઝૂંપડામાં રહે. પણ પોતાની દીકરીઓ ઉત્તમ ભણે એવી લાગણી સાથે તેમણે નાનપણથી પોતાની દીકરીઓને હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણવા મૂકી.

આ બધાએ હવે ધો. 12 તો કેટલાકે ધો.10 પુરુ કર્યું. આ બધાના સમણા બહુ મોટા છે. પણ એ પુરા કરવામાં અમે એમના પડખે ઊભા રહીશું.

બાળકો ઉત્તમ ભણે તે માટે હોસ્ટેલ વ્યવસ્થા ઊભી કરવામાં આદરણીય ચંદ્રકાન્તભાઈ ગોગરી -આરતી પરિવારની સૌથી મોટી મદદ મળી, આ સિવાય પણ અનેક સ્વજનોએ હોસ્ટેલ બાંધકામમાં મદદ કરી એ સૌની લાગણી માટે આભારી.

હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણતા બાળકો ઉત્તમ ભણે તે માટે આદરણીય પ્રતુલભાઈ શ્રોફ - ડો. કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશનની મદદ સતત મળે. એમણે આ બાળકોના ભણતર માટે શિક્ષકો પુરા પાડ્યા. આ સિવાય હોસ્ટેલ નિભાવ ખર્ચમાં પણ એમનો સહયોગ. એમની મદદ વગર હોસ્ટેલ વ્યવસ્થા ચલાવવી અસંભવ. પ્રતુલભાઈ તો હોસ્ટેલ વ્યવસ્થામાં સતત સાથે. બાળકોના શિક્ષણનો ભાર તેમણે ઉપાડી લીધો. તેમની આ લાગણી માટે આભારી છું.

અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં રહીને ભણતા બાળકો અમારી હોસ્ટેલ આસપાસના ગામોમાં આવેલી વિવિધ શાળાઓમાં ભણે. આ શાળાના શિક્ષણગણની પણ આ બાળકોના ઘડતરમાં મહેનત. એમના અમે આભારી છીએ.

અમારી હોસ્ટેલનો તમામ સ્ટાફ પ્રિય ડીમ્પલબેન, વનીતા, જયંતીભાઈ,બીજોલ, કીરણ, ધનશ્યામ, વંદના, કોકીલા, સુરેખા, મીલન, ઠાકરશીભાઈ, ચતુરભાઈ, તેજલબેન વગેરેની મહેનતને પણ પ્રણામ.

શિક્ષણ એ એવો દિવો છે જે વ્યક્તિને અંધારામાંથી અજવાળા તરફ લઈ જાય છે. અમારા બાળકો અજવાળાના સ્વપ્નો જોવા માંડ્યા છે. બસ એમના સપના સાકાર થાય એવી શુભભાવના..

 On International Women's Day, a story of our daughters...

"What will you do after studying?"

I asked this to the little girls standing in front of me—Khushi, Dipali, Drishti, Sonu, Manisha, and Neha.

At that time, none of them responded, as seen in this photo. They just looked ahead and gave me a beautiful smile as if to say, "We will carry on."

They had been with us since they were very young, coming to study at our hostel. Over the years, they studied here and passed their 12th grade. Later, there was concern about whether their families would allow them to continue their education.

But our joy came when one of them boldly said, "If we aren't allowed to study, we will run away from home."

I laughed and replied, "Such cases where daughters run away to study hardly ever happen. If that happens, you’ll be one of the rare cases."

After hearing this, all the girls burst into laughter.

Then I told them, "You should talk and explain to your family. If you convince them, they will let you study." And that's exactly what they did. The girls convinced their parents, who were initially concerned that if the daughters studied too much, they wouldn’t find suitable husbands. In a way, this concern was not entirely unreasonable.

But in the end, everything worked out.

Many girls who studied at our hostel have gone on to pursue nursing and diploma engineering. Some of these girls I recently met at a community wedding in the Bajaniya community.

I had no idea they would be there, but as soon as I entered the wedding hall, they ran to greet me. And then, there was a flood of conversations. Khushi said, "Didi, you should go on stage and talk to all the other girls about the importance of education."

So, we all went up on stage and spoke at length.

Our hope, as we shared with the girls, was this: "A daughter should be able to earn. If she can earn, she can face any challenges that come her way. She won't need anyone's support."

What a wonderful thought, and we are happy that the girls are now understanding it.

વિશ્વ મહિલા દિને અમારી દીકરીઓની વાત...

‘ભણીને શું કરશો?’ 

મારી સામે ઊભેલી નાનકડી ખુશી, દિપાલી, દૃષ્ટિ, સોનુ, મનીષા, નેહાને પુછ્યું.

એ વખતે આ ફોટોમાં દેખાય એ બધી સાવ ટબુડિયો એટલે કોઈ જવાબ ન આપ્યો.. બસ સામે જોઈને ઓવારી જઈએ એવું સુંદર સ્મિત આપ્યું.

અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં બહુ નાની હતી ત્યારથી ભણવા આવેલી. વર્ષો સુધી અમારા ત્યાં ભણી ને ધો. 12 પાસ કર્યું. હવે બધાને ચિંતા હતી ઘરેથી આગળ ભણવા નહીં દે તોની.

પણ અમારી ખુશી તો જબરી એણે કહ્યું, ‘નહીં ભણવા તે દો ઘરેથી ભાગી જઈશું.’

એ વખતે હસી ને કહેલું,  ‘ભણવા માટે દિકરી ભાગી આવા કિસ્સા દુનિયામાં ભાગ્યેજ બને. એ કિસ્સામાં તમારી ગણતરી થશે જો આવું થશે તો’ વાત સાંભળી બધી દીકરીઓ ખુબ હસેલી.

એ પછી, તમે સંવાદ કરજો ને પરિવારને સમજાવજો એ ભણવા મોકલશે એવું કહેલું. અને દિકરીઓએ મા-બાપને સમજાવ્યા. દિકરીઓ ભણી જશે તો પછી એમને લાયક દિકરો નહીં મળે તો ની ચિંતા મા-બાપને.  એક રીતે આ ચિંતા વ્યાજબી પણ હતી. પણ બધુ ગોઠવાયું.

અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણીને ઘણી દીકરીઓ નર્સીગ અને ડિપ્લોમા એન્જીનીયરીંગમાં ગઈ. આ દીકરીઓમાંથી કેટલીકને હમણાં બજાણિયા સમુદાયના સમુહ લગ્નમાં મળવાનું થયું. 

જરાય અંદાજ નહોતો કે આ બધા ત્યાં હશે. પણ  હું જેવી મંડપમાં દાખલ થઈ કે, દોડીને ભેટી પડી. પછી તો વાતોના તડાકા. ખુશીએ તો કહ્યું, ‘દીદી તમે સ્ટેજ પર જઈને બીજા બધા દીકરીઓ ભણાવે એની વાત કરોને..’ને પછી અમે સૌ પહોંચ્યા સ્ટેજ પર ને ઘણી વાતો કરી..

અમારી આશા કહે, ‘દીદી દીકરી કમાતી હોવી જોઈએ. એ કમાય તો એના પર આવતી તમામ મુસીબતનો એ સામનો કરી શકે. એને કોઈના ટેકાની જરૃર ન પડે.’

વાત કેવી સરસ પણ દીકરીઓ હવે આ સમજી રહી છે એનો અમને આનંદ છે..

અમારા ડિમ્પલબેન, હર્ષદ, વનિતા, જયંતીભાઈ, બિજોલ અનેકોનો ફાળો આ દિકરીઓને આ સ્તરે પહોંચાડવામાં મહત્વનો. 

બસ આવી અનેક દીકરીઓના ભણતરમાં નિમિત્ત બનીએ એવી ઈશ્વરને શુભભાવના...

The dreams that we envisioned for the nomadic children and with them are now becoming a reality

Srushti has become the most loved one in the entire hostel

Our Srushti. She is the youngest among all the children studying in the hostel. When her father came to place her elder sister in the hostel, Srushti said, "I want to stay here too," and that's how she stayed. Today, she has become the most loved one in the entire hostel.

The children from our background don’t usually get much attention towards their education. That’s why we have separate classes where the children learn and grow at their own pace. Among these classes, the class for younger children is the most fun. Some of the children in this class study, while our Srushti, like others, falls asleep with her head on the desk when she gets tired.

When the hostel started, there were many difficulties. We had a vision of providing the best for the children, but construction and setting things up brought certain challenges. However, now everything is coming together.

Today, some of the children who go to schools in our area have started becoming the best in their class. We are proud of this. Even those who aren’t at the top are working hard with their own goals. They are very interested in sports. In the sports competition, our children from Kalol Taluka stood out. They also secured top positions at the district level.

The dreams that we envisioned for the children and with them are now becoming a reality. Our vision is very big, and I pray to God every day that these dreams will come true, and I truly believe they will.

અમારી સૃષ્ટિ. હૌસ્ટેલમાં ભણતી બધી ટાબરમાં એ સૌથી નાની. એના પપ્પા એની મોટી બેનને હોસ્ટેલમાં મુકવા આવેલા ને સૃષ્ટીએ કહ્યું, મારે પણ અહીંયા રહેવું છે ને એ બસ રહી પડી. આજે એ આખી હોસ્ટેલની વહાલુડી થઈ ગઈ છે.

અમારા બાળકો જે બેકગ્રાઉન્ડમાંથી આવે ત્યાં ભણતર પર ખાસ ધ્યાન આપવાનું ન થાય. એટલે અમે ખાસ અલાયદા વર્ગો બાળકો સરખુ શીખે- ભણે એ માટે લઈએ. આ વર્ગોમાં નાના બાળકોનો વર્ગ સૌથી મજાનો. આ વર્ગમાં કેટલાક બાળકો ભણતા હોય ને અમારી સૃષ્ટિ જેવાને ઊંઘ આવે તો માથુ ઢાળી એ સુઈ પણ જાય. 

હોસ્ટેલ શરૃ કરી એ વખતે ઘણી અગવડો હતી. બાળકોને ઉત્તમ આપવાનો મનોરથ પણ બાંધકામ ચાલુ હોય તો કેટલીક તકલીફ પડે એ સ્વાભાવીક. પણ હવે બધુ ગોઠવાઈ રહ્યું છે. 

આજે અમારા બાળકો જે નિશાળોમાં ભણવા જાય છે ત્યાંની નિશાળોમાં કેટલાક તો અવલ્લ આવવા માંડ્યા છે. અમને એનો રાજીપો. જે અવલ્લ નથી એ બધા પણ પોતાના કોઈને કોઈ ધ્યેય સાથે લાગી પડ્યા છે. રમતગમતમાં તો એમને ખુબ રસ પડે. ખેલ મહાકુંભમાં કલોલ તાલુકામાં અમારા બાળકો છવાઈ ગયા. જિલ્લા કક્ષાએ પણ નંબર મેળવીને આવ્યા. 

બાળકો અને એમની સાથે અમે જોયેલા સ્વપ્ન સાકાર થઈ રહ્યા છે. મનોરથ બહુ મોટા છે ને એ બધા પુરા કરવા ઈશ્વરને રોજ પ્રાર્થના કરુ છું ને એ થશે એવો વિશ્વાસ પણ છે.

Nishaben, 

a very powerful lady. indeed. We came to know her through our association with  Dr K R Shroff Foundation. She becomes child-like with children & she is as much comfortable with the teachers, explaining to them in a very loving manner. She understands their situation and tries to be useful to them. She has all the qualities of a leader. She completed her Bachelor in Arts in 1998. To become a teacher she had to do B.Ed which she did 14 years after she left the college. She became a teacher. 

She joined the K R Shroff Foundation as a teacher.  She had qualities of a leader, very sensitive, and takes every one along. She has the responsibility of keeping a watch over 48 school teachers.

Being from Sabarkantha, she has a very lucid style of speaking.

Apart from overseeing the role of teachers she also takes care of the children studying under these 48 teachers. We have become good friends. She has interesting stories to tell. She is happy & full of pride that because of Shri Pratulbhai Shroff & Shri Udaybhai Desai  she got the opportunity to work. She smilingly says that she is carrying forward the legacy of Father and Grandfather. 

Similarly in Chitroda School there is one Jagrutiben. She is also very bold. When we went to meet her she said first let us take a photo and Vishal took one lovely picture.

For the growth of our country, we salute every such woman. Women milking the cows, drying the cow dung, doing household work and taking Donkeys and Goats to the grassland all are included. They are all a source of powerful energy.  We salute all of them.

નિશાબહેન...

આપણે કહીએ ને આ બહુ જોરદાર છે બસ એવા જોરદાર. અમારો પરિચય ડો.કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશનના કામોના કારણે.. બાળકોની સાથે સાથે બાળકોને ભણાવતા શિક્ષકોને પણ એવું પ્રેમથી સમજાવે, તેમની સ્થિતિ સમજે ને તેમને ઉપયોગી થવાનું કરે. એક લીડરમાં હોય તેવા તમામ ગુણ.. 

બીએ 1998માં પુરુ કર્યું. પણ શિક્ષક થવા બીએડ કરવું પડે એમ હતું તે 14 વર્ષ પછી પાછુ કોલેજનું પગથિયું ચડ્યા ને શિક્ષીકા થયા. 

KRSFમાં શિક્ષીકા તરીકે જોડાયા. પણ લીડરશીપનો તેમનો ગુણ, સંવેદનશીલતા, સૌને સાથે લઈને ચાલવાની ભાવનાના લીધે આજે ફાઉન્ડેશને મુકેલા 48 નિશાળના શિક્ષકોની કામગીરી જોવાનું એ કરે..

સાંબરકાંઠાના વતની એટલે ભાષામાં મસ્ત સાબરકાંઠાનો લહેકો આવે. 

પોતાની હાથ નીચે કામ કરતા 48 શિક્ષકોની સાથે સાથે શિક્ષકો જે શાળામાં ભણાવે તે શાળાના બાળકોનું પણ એ પૂર્ણ ધ્યાન રાખે...

અમારી મજાની દોસ્તી થઈ ગઈ.. એમની પાસે જીવતી વાર્તાનો ખજાનો.. સેવાના ક્ષેત્રમાં આદરણીય પ્રતુલભાઈ શ્રોફ, ઉદયભાઈ દેસાઈના લીધે એમને કામ કરવાનો મોકો મળ્યો એનાથી એ ગર્વ અનુભવે. દાદા અને પિતાના વારસાને હું આગળ વધારી રહી છુ એવું એ મર્માળુ હસીને કહે...

અમે ચિત્રોડીની નિશાળમાં જાગૃતિબહેન - એ પણ બહાદુર બહેન, એમને મળવા ગયા ત્યારે એક મસ્ત ફોટો થઈ જાય એમ કહ્યું ને અમારા વિશાલે સુંદર ક્લીક કરી... 

દેશની ઉન્નતિ માટે ગામોમાં કાર્ય કરતા નિશાબહેન જેવા દરેક બહેનોને સલામ... આમ ગામમાં ગાય ભેંસો દોતા, છાણ વાસીદા ને ઘરનું કામ કરતા, ગઘેડા ને ઘેટાં બકરા ચરાવતા બધા જ બહેનો આવી ગયા. એ બધા ઊર્જાનો સ્ત્રોત...એ બધાને પ્રણામ...

Education is like a touchstone (Parasmani).  Life changes for whomever comes in it's contact. Under our education & vocation schemes we have provided loans to thousands of aspiring people and changed their lives for better. However, we are not satisfied with what we have done so far. We yearn for more people to live a better life. If many others think like us the world will be a much better place to live as more people will rise from abject poverty.

We are building an educational campus at Pansar near Gandhinagar. About 1000 Boys & Girls can stay comfortably there. Alongwith with education we will provide vocational training. We will have sports facilities including a playground. We will train them for competitive examinations. We will strive to do all that would facilitate their growth and become wonderful citizens of our country.

In the first phase we have almost completed the construction of Hostels. Now we shall start construction of a school and vocational training centre.

You all can join hands in this mammoth task. In this mission of providing education, your contribution will be valuable. Your help will ultimately help the deprived children. That is for sure.

શિક્ષણ એ પારસમણી જેવું. કોઈને અડી જાય તો એનું જીવન બદલાઈ જાય.

અમે શિક્ષણ અને સ્વાવલંબન કાર્યક્રમ થકી સ્વતંત્ર વ્યવસાય માટે લોન આપી હજારો લોકોનું જીવન બદલવામાં નિમિત્ત બન્યા છીએ. 

પણ જેટલું કર્યું એનાથી સંતોષ નથી.. હજુ વધુ લોકો સુખમય જીવન જીવે તે માટે મથવાની લાલસા છે. આ હકારાત્મક લાલસા છે આવી દરેક વ્યક્તિ રાખે તો દુનિયાના મોટાભાગના દુઃખો જે આર્થિક ગરીબાઈને લઈને વ્યાપેલા છે એ દૂર થઈ જાય.

અમે ગાંધીનગર પાસેના પાનસરગામામાં વલ્લભ વિદ્યા સંકુલનું નિર્માણ કરી રહ્યા છે. હજાર દિકરા દિકરી રહી શકે એવી વ્યવસ્થા છે.

ભણતરની સાથે બાળકોને વિવિધ વ્યવસાયની તાલીમ, રમતગમતમાં બાળકો અવલ્લ આવે તે માટે રમતગમતનું મેદાન, સ્પર્ધાત્મક પરિક્ષાની તૈયારીઓ બધુયે આ સંકુલમાં બાળકોને કરાવીશું જેથી એ ઉત્તમ જિંદગી જીવી શકે. સાથે  દેશના એ ઉત્તમ નાગરિક  બની શકે.

પ્રથમ તબક્કામાં બે હોસ્ટેલ બીલ્ડીંગનું બાંધકામ પૂર્ણ થયું હવે નિશાળ અને વોકેશનલ ટ્રેનીંગનું બાંધકામ શરૃ  થશે.

There is a very strong reason to say Thank You. The reason dates back to 2008. From one settlement we brought one girl to the hostel for studies.  After that the girl's father called up.

He said " Ben, my wife rubbed kerosene on her hands and said "bring my daughter back otherwise I will burn myself to death".  My wife will not understand your sentiments. Kindly send my daughter back home from the hostel otherwise my wife will burn herself.". 

Many years ago we started the mission to educate the children of the nomadic community.. We bring children to the hostel but within two days the parents would protest and take the children back home.  Lack of education leads to such acts. One can understand that the situation is very bad. There were no positive feelings towards education. Most of them considered education as a waste of time & efforts.

But we are determined to alter the mindset . To have an education set up one needs a place. We did not have a place of our own. We either took it on rent or someone voluntarily gave it to use. We started hostels & started to educate children.Gradually we realised that we will need a place of our own.There was an inconvenience of vacating the rented places and restarting again at a new place. When it is difficult to move with one child, one can imagine the difficulty that will have to be faced with 300 children. Finally we bought a large piece of land in Pansar with the help of Shri Chandrakantbhai Gogri.& started construction of Hostel.  It is possible to accommodate & educate 1000 children and that is what we are aiming at. In the first phase we are constructing a hostel. It is a huge financial outlay but we are hopeful that with the help of  our donors we will reach the goal. 

Recently, respected Dr Nitinbhai Sumant Shah gave a donation of Rs 25 lakhs towards our Pansar Hostel. He has shown his willingness to contribute further to the cause in the near future. We are thankful for his kind feelings. Nitinbhai is always with us in all our work at VSSM. Nitinbhai is a benevolent donor and regularly contributes towards various causes. We salute him, Pratikshaben & family for their continuous support. 

Shri Mahendrabhai Patel of Lincoln Pharmaceuticals, Ahmedabad is a unique personality. A man who donates without our asking. He had earlier donated Rs 10 lakhs and he further sent Rs 5 lakhs. We are thankful & obliged to Shri Mahendraabhai & his family.

આભાર ડો. નિતીન સુમંત શાહ - હાર્ટ ફાઉન્ડેશન...

આભાર માનવાનું કારણ જબરુ છે. વાત છે 2008ની... એક વસાહતમાંથી અમે દિકરીને હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણવા લઈ આવ્યા એ પછી દિકરીના પિતાનો ફોન આવ્યો.

'ઓ બુન મારી વઉએ હાથમોં ઘાસતેલ લીધું હ્. કેસ ક સોડીન પાસી લાવો નકર મું હળગી મરે. તમારી ભાવના મારુ બૈરુ નઈ હમજઅ. મેરબોની કરીન ભલા થઈન સોડીન પાસી મેલી જો નકર આ હળગી....'

વર્ષો પહેલાં વિચરતી જાતિના બાળકોને ભણાવવાની મુહીમ શરૃ કરી. બાળકોને હોસ્ટેલમાં લઈ આવેલી એ વખતે વાલીઓનો આવો વિરોધ. બાળકોને અમે લઈ આવીએ અને વાલીઓ બે દિવસમાં બાળકને પરત લઈ જાય.

ભણતર નથી એટલે દશા ખરાબ એ સીધુ સમજાતું હતું. છતાં શિક્ષણ પ્રત્યે મોટાભાગના ઉદાસીન.

પણ અમે સ્થિતિ બદલવાનો નિર્ધાર કર્યો. અમારી પોતાની જગ્યા નહોતી અમે ભાડાની તો ક્યાંક કોઈએ વાપરવા આપેલી જગ્યામાં હોસ્ટેલ શરૃ કરીને બાળકોને ભણાવવાની શરૃઆત કરી. 

ધીમે ધીમે પોતાની જગ્યા જોઈશે નો અહેસાસ થયો. મૂળ તો વારંવાર જગ્યાઓ ખાલી કરવાની થાય. એક બાળક સાથે ઘર કે ગામ બદલવાનું અઘરુ થાય ત્યાં 300 બાળકો સાથે તો કેવું કપરુ?

આખરે પોતાની જગ્યા જે ક્યારેય લેવી નહોતી એ લેવાનું નક્કી કર્યું ને પાનસરમાં આદરણીય ચંદ્રકાન્તભાઈ ગોગરીની મદદથી ઘણી મોટી જગ્યા લીધી. આ જગ્યા પર 1000 બાળકોને ભણાવવાના મનોરથ છે. પ્રથમ ફેઝમાં હોસ્ટેલ બાંધી રહ્યા છીએ. 

ખર્ચ મોટો છે પણ સમાજ પર શ્રદ્ધા છે. ટીપે ટીપે સરોવર ભરાય એમ અનુદાન આવી રહ્યું છે.

હમણાં આદરણીય નિતીન સુમંત શાહ - હાર્ટ ફાઉન્ડેશને પાનસરમાં બંધાનારા વલ્લભ વિદ્યાસંકુલ માટે 25 લાખનું અનુદાન આપ્યું. હજુ વધારે અનુદાન તેમના તરફથી મળશે. તેમની લાગણી માટે આભારી છીએ. નિતીનભાઈ VSSM ના દરેક કાર્યોમાં હંમેશાં અમારી સાથે.. આમ તો નિતીનભાઈ ઘણા સેવાકાર્યોમાં છુટાહાથે દાન કરે.. તેમની આ સખાવતને પ્રણામ

Healthy competition is good for the growth of a person. That is why during school  times the students are encouraged to participate in various competitions. The win-lose during these competitions help one to understand the ups and downs of life and the strength to withstand the tough times.

VSSM runs two hostels. One is in Kakar village in Banaskantha district. The other one called Vishwa Mangalam is in Himmatnagar managed in association with Vishwamangalam Trust. The girls staying in this hostel take training to learn music. Their progress is gauged in the competition they participate in.

Recently a Youth Festival at District & State level was organised. In this, the students from our hostels participated. They came first in a group & musical song category at the District level. At the State level they finished honourable fourth in a competition organised at Hemchandra University in Patan.

They had trained hard for the first position but  there were others who were better. However, every participant learns much more about life than just about competition.

The students were encouraged by Mayankbhai Jadhav, Nalinbhai, Bijalbhai, Ghanshyambhai, Dimpleben and Vanita.

The participants who performed brilliantly were Rekha, Shilpa, Puri, Apeksha, Jiya, Jhanvi & Mittal. Our congratulations to them. We wish them bigger success in their future endeavours.

સ્પર્ધા માણસના ઘડતર માટે ઉપયોગી. એટલે જ શાળા જીવન દરમ્યાન આયોજીત થતી વિવિધ સ્પર્ધાઓમાં વિદ્યાર્થીને ભાગ લેવડાવવાનું ખાસ કરાવવામાં આવે. સ્પર્ધા દરમ્યાન થતી હાર જીત જીવનના ચડાવ ઉતારમાં ટકી રહેવાનો જુસ્સો આપે. 

VSSM બે છાત્રાલય ચલાવે. એક છાત્રાલય બનાસકાંઠાના કાકરમાં ચાલે. જ્યારે બીજુ વિશ્વ મંગલમ અનેરા - હિંમતનગર પાસે વિશ્વમંગલમ ટ્રસ્ટની સાથે ચાલે. આ છાત્રાલયમાં ભણતી વિદ્યાર્થીઓ સંગીતની તાલીમ લે. તાલીમનું નિદર્શન વિવિધ સ્પર્ધમાં થાય.

તાજેતરમાં જિલ્લા અને રાજ્યકક્ષાનો યુવા મહોત્વસ આયોજીત થયો. એમાં અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણતી દિકરીઓએ ભાગ લીધો. જિલ્લા કક્ષાએ સમૂહગીત અને સુગમ સંગીતમાં પ્રથમ આવી. રાજ્યકક્ષાની સ્પર્ધા પાટણ હેમચંદ્રાચાર્ય યુનિવર્સીટીમાં આયોજીત થઈ જેમાં દિકરીઓ ચોથા ક્રમે આવી. 

મહેનત પ્રથમ નંબર મળે તેવી કરી હતી. પણ એમના કરતા વધારે ઉત્તમ કરવાવાળા વિદ્યાર્થીઓ સ્પર્ધામાં આવ્યા. પણ દરેક વિદ્યાર્થી સ્પર્ધામાં નંબર મેળવવાની લાલસાની સાથે સાથે અન્ય ઘણું શીખે, જે અમારી દીકરીઓ શીખી. 

દિકરીઓને સંગીતમાં મયંકભાઈ જાદવ, નલિનભાઈ, બીજોલભાઈ, ઘનશ્યામભાઈ, ડિમ્પલબેન અને અમારી વનિતાનું પ્રોત્સાહન મળ્યું. 

સંગીતમાં ઉત્કૃષ્ઠ પ્રદર્શન કરનાર અમારી રેખા, શિલ્પા, પૂરી, ભૂમિકા, અપેક્ષા.જીયા, જાહનવી, મિત્તલને અભીનંદન તેમજ ભવિષ્યમાં ખુબ પ્રગતિ કરી સફળતાના શીખરે પહોંચે તેવી શુભભાવના..

Educating the children of Fulwadi community is a difficult dream to realise...

"We have to beg though we do not like to. Our parents used to beg without hesitation."

Young children of Fulwadi community said this. They earlier used to earn money as snake charmers. However, the government banned this activity. Since then they try to earn their livelihood by doing small labour jobs or by begging. The parents move around for work and along with them these children seek alms. 

The boys study till standard 8th and the girls till standard 5th only. They believe that is all they should study. Even parents accept that.

In Kakar Village of Banaskantha there is a large population of Fulwadi community. More than 350 families stay there. However only 125-150 children register their names in the school. There may be more than 300 children. However many have not registered their names. Moreover, even the children move around with their parents so teachers cannot register their names.

In the month of "Magshar" ( as per Hindu calendar) they come home for a month else they along with their parents lead a nomadic life.

Some children stay put in the community and go to school. They survive on their own by begging for food on Saturdays & Sundays which last for the rest of the week.

This is a tragic &  unbelievable situation.

Whenever I go to "Fulwadi" community in Kakar from Ahmedabad, it feel like you have travelled back in time to the 18th Century. 

In order that children staying in this community in Kakar can study, Smt Viraben Meghji Shah (Chanderia) built a school; for them.  However it is extremely difficult for the children to continue going to school on a long term basis. They cannot stay put at one place. This is a tough call for us. We have to overcome this problem of children not going to school.  For that we will do whatever best is required to be done. It requires patience. Our well wishers have to understand that it is difficult to get results overnight. Our donor Pravinbhai Shah in whose mother's name the school is set up understands this and supports us fully. That is a big comfort for us. We at VSSM are thankful to Shri Pravinbhai & his family for their support 

We have dreamt of educating the children of Fulwadi community, It is a difficult dream to realise.

'અમાર તો મોગવાનું!'

'પણ માંગવું કોને ગમે?'

'ચમ ના ગમ્. અમાર મા-બાપ તો ઠેઠથી મોગ...'

સાપના ખેલ બતાવીને પેટિયું રળનાર અને ખેલ બતાવવા પર પ્રતિબંધ આવ્યા પછી મજૂરી મળે તો મજૂરી કરીને અને ન મળે તો ભીખ માંગીને પેટિયું રળતા ફૂલવાદી સમુદાયના ટબુડિયાઓ સાથેનો આ સંવાદ. મા-બાપ કામ ધંધા માટે વિચરણ કરે ને એમની સાથે નાના નાના બાળકો પણ ખભે ઝોળી લઈને માંગવાનું કરે. 

બાળકો ધો.8 સુધી ભણે એ વાત વડિલો સમજે. બાકી ધો.8થી આગળનું એમને ન સમજાય. બાળકો પણ 8 ધો. સુધી જ ભણવાનું એમ માને. જ્યારે દિકરીઓ તો 5 ધો. જ ભણે.

બનાસકાંઠાના કાકરમાં ફૂલવાદીની મોટી વસાહત. લગભગ 350 થી વધુ પરિવારો ત્યાં વસે. પણ નિશાળમાં માંડ 125 -150 બાળકોના નામ દાખલ થયા હશે. વસાહતમાં બાળકોની સંખ્યા તો 300 ઉપર હશે પણ બધાના નામ નિશાળમાં લખાવ્યા નથી. વળી બાળકો મા-બાપ સાથે વિચરણ કરે એટલે શિક્ષકો પણ સામે ચાલીને નામ નોંધવાનું કરી ન શકે.

માગસર મહિનામાં આ બધા એક મહિના માટે ઘરે આવે. બાકી ભમતા રામ.

કેટલાક બાળકો વસાહતમાં રહે ને નિશાળમાં જાય. આ બાળકો પોતાનો ખર્ચો જાતે કાઢે. પાંચમાં છઠ્ઠામાં ભણતા બાળકો શનિ રવીમાં અનાજ માંગવા જાય ને જે મળે તેમાંથી અઠવાડિયું ચલાવે.

અકલ્પનીય સ્થિતિ.

અમદાવાદથી જ્યારે કાકરની ફૂલવાદી વસાહતમાં જવું ત્યારે લાગે કે 18મી સદીમાં આવી ગઈ છું.

આ વસાહતમાં રહેતા બાળકો ભણે તે માટે અમે વસાહતમાં જ શ્રીમતી વિરાબહેન મેઘજીભાઈ શાહ(ચંદેરિયા) છાત્રાલય બાંધ્યું. પણ બાળકોનું નિયમીત છાત્રાલયમાં ટકવું ખરેખર મુશ્કેલ. પગમાં ભમરી એટલે પગ ઝાઝો સમય એક જગ્યા પર સ્થિર જ ન થાય.

અમારા માટે પણ આકરી કસોટી. સફળ તો થવાનું જ છે. એ માટે એડીચોટીનું જોર લાગડી દઈશું. પણ આ કાર્યમાં ધીરજ ખુબ જોઈએ. મદદ કરનાર સ્વજનો આ વાત સમજે તો જ બધુ કામનું. બાકી રાતો રાત પરિણામ અહીંયા ન મળે.

અમારા પ્રવિણભાઈ શાહ જેમના માતૃશ્રીના નામ પર આ છાત્રાલય ચાલે એ આ વાત બરાબર સમજે. એટલે જ પુરા ભાવથી અમારા પર શ્રદ્ધા રાખી એ મદદ કરે. એમની બહુ મોટી હૂંફ છે. 

અમારા પર શ્રદ્ધા રાખી અમારા કાર્યમાં મદદ કરનાર આદરણીય પ્રવિણભાઈ અને એમના પરિવારનો VSSM પરિવાર આભારી છે..

ફૂલવાદી બાળકોને ભણતા કરવાનું સ્વપ્ન સેવ્યું. પણ આ સ્વપ્ન લોઢાના ચણા ચાવવા જેવું.  જે પુરુ કરવા મથે  શિક્ષણનું કાર્ય સંભાળતી અમારી ટીમ.  પ્રિય ડીમ્પલબેન, વનિતા, જય, વિજય, જ્યોતી, શીવાભાઈ, અરવીંદભાઈ આ બધાની નિસબતને સલામ...
